hi guys, i'm back and new with the locomotive. i got interested with trumpeter's BR52..nice to have this n the shelves as center piece...so i bought me one. here are some work in progress pictures....

well the kit has a lot of circular marks on sub parts..took alot of time...to smoothen them and the seam line were so..promimnnent...with TLC..this baby will be doing pretty....

i've to skipped some stages...and go on building the big assemblies..leave all the small parts for the painting process...

that's about it for now...thanks for viewing. comments and suggestion are welcome..!

Good start Ed. I have this kit waiting also, but have problems with time restraints. How long has it taken to get this far?

Nice work! Makes me want to get my kit out and fire it up.
That camo scheme...grey and fieldstone{?} tan...shouldn't be too hard to do....that's the version I plan on doing her in.
I'm waiting on the fully armored version to come out.

Hey, your model...your call on the paint. You could paint it pink if you wanted to.
Question, are you doing an PE for this build? They make a nice cab PE kit but you won't be able to see it since the cab and tender are closed up and connected.

if you're asking about the PE aftermarket parts..nope. i'll just use the kit's PE they've provided..which is quite few and small. i might do some scratch building on the tubings and other details as i progresses. i'll also include some figures to give reference scale. thanks again.

thanks bob. i think i have to make adjustment on the black color. the BR52 on the walkaround featured by mr. jim rae was black all around and no sign of weathering..probably just the top most alittle wearing and under the framing. the red paint and oxides are showing due to less maintenance. anyway here are some WIP picture which i have completed this weekend...lots of pictures.....

My grandfather worked for the CB&Q and from the memories I had and pics he took they didn't let the engines go too far in the way of rusting or looking shabby. Dirty and used looking was fine for freight{within reason}, but not for passenger service!
The lovely thing with your model is you can show her as however you wish...fresh out from a touch up{alittle worn/only slightly rusty here and there}, fresh as the day she started service, really neglected, or ready for scrapping...your model...your call.
Keep up the great work...

thanks bob for the nice words and tip. i haven't seen a real locomotive before. i'm glad and thankful for all the replies. they're sure helpful for my project.

hi everyone..more progress pictures...the "instrument panels" is consist of gate valves and lever. gauges for pressures and tubings..i'm looking for more refrence material on this one...and it needs some touch up and add ons...

the injectors( F-33) for the flexible tubes are really a pain. it needs more detail and possibly..pins. male and female plugs to connect the vinyl tubings and plastic injectors (F-33). what i did was drill a hole and put some copper wires. then attach vinyl tubes..(left overs from tamiya kits)..to connect the two parts. not that easy and it's a test of patience and temper...!

attachment of brakes stabilizers..! i can't imagine how they can calibrate all those brakes attached on the big wheels...!

more pictures..showing the massive shafts..rail guides..push rods and more tubings. kinda tricky to put them all together. but i did...! after sanding, cleaning and test fitting them..a small dab of thin glue will not hurt the assembly. positioning and fixing the wheels will make them sturdy.

i left the cabin open to add more details...

comments and suggestions are welcome...thanks for viewing. ed

Ohh, that“s a beauty of an loco and the built one too!

We also have some of them driving and/or standing around.
One month ago I made a short video from an model-building-exhibition, on which one of them made short trips with passengers. That“s like an animal.

greetings...

Man she's lookin good! The sanders{#F-33} are pretty basic...they're purpose was to route sand from that upper box to the drivers for traction on slippery rail. They were hand bent and replaced or pulled often when the sand got wet and clogged up a line.
Watching your build makes me want to pull my kit out so bad..but with the thought of moving in a year amkes me cringe with the htought of having to move what built kits I already have{without breakage}.
I plan on a "long" shelf next house for a train and cars build...I have the trumpy leo too.

What a beauty of a kit! It looks really good!
I also used some leafes on my snow dio, but later I covered it .. with snow.

On your scene, this has a better effect. The colors and the grey of the stones... are very nice!
Did you planned some (or one) tree(s) in the near of the railroad-track?

greetings...

Hello Ed, Beautiful job, your locomotive looks spectacular. I like your idea of undercoating the red with brown and green first. I wouldn't have thought of it, and it gives a very good effect to the red. Congratulations on a great model. Al
