Thanks Tom,I am happy to inspire you! I only hope that we see more horse drawn stuff show up here. It was an important part of history. It may seem hard to paint a horse,but after some of the weathering jobs that have shown up here,a horse looks easy to me! LOL

Now that I bumped the other thread,some one wanted to see this again. Sorry guys.
I do have plans to get back to this as the Komrad vignette was supposed to be a part of this one!
I still have to take time off once in a while to make master patterns and so pay to keep the lights on in my hobby room!

Missed that one completely, as you started the thread around the time I went to hospital...and afterwards....well, I've seen it now....and it is absolutely brilliant!
You are not only highly skilled, but you are ready to invest a lot of time to achieve a top standard!!

Incredible stuff Jerry! The horses I am especially impressed with. I have attempted horses in the past and it is not easy. Your horses are top notch! Hate I came in so late on this build but now I'm subscribed and can't wait to see your progress and completion. Keep up the great work.

You might have been thrown off by seeing the last pic. It is totally miss-posted by myself and very missleading if you just look at the last pic on this thread.
I had forgotten this build but now that it's warm outside I want to get back to it. I wonder if I remember how to do some of this horse stuff any longer? I tend to forget quickly.
The shock and sadness I felt when I watched "Warhorse" has kind of worn off and I think I can work on this again without feeling so bad for all of the suffering endured by our 4 legged friends while we humans kill each other.
Wow,didn't mean to wax so "deep". Anyway,now you can check it out.
I need to revisit the figs though. I have made a bit of progress with sculpting and painting since I did these little dudes. Well....I hope so anyway!! LOL

The gun is the AFV club offering but I made a few additions like the breech cover and gunsite cover and muzzle cap,etc.
The limber is scratchbuilt and not at all like the Russian one you may be thinking of.
It is the last model of the 105mm medium arty the Germans used and was called the Liechte feldhaubitz 18/40. Very much lighter than the early versions as they used the trails and carriage from the 75mm PAK40. They could use the lighter system because of the added muzzlebreak,which drastically reduced recoil. The limber was also much lighter so...less dead horses.
This combo was also seen being pulled by Maultier and by RSO units as well as the standard type arty halftracks.

Jerry-- great job as always. My question is in regard to your use of filler on the horses. What type are you using...white putty from Squadron? How do you remove the excess and create the smooth finish?
