Karl, I like the vehicle and the figure but I can't read what you put on the base
If you wanted to say it in Russian - it should be "БТР-80А в Чечне"

Yeap, the nameplate is wrong- a couple of Russian guys pointed this out when I finished the build over on the Russo-Soviet forum. I just haven't had the time to get a new one sorted!
Thanks for looking !

Good job.
But why would so make fun of our language?

The correct caption:
БТР-80А в Чечне
or
БТР-80А в Чеченской республике

@Karl187 – Karl,

Stunning! The vehicle, figure and base are outstanding and realistic. Excellent weathering effect overall.

Thanks for the Mud technique feature which looks fantastic on your vehicle and figure and blends in well with the base.

Again, thanks for sharing your build!

John- thanks a lot, glad you like it.

Gennadiy- thanks for those captions and I appreciate you taking a look.

Jeff- Yeah, the beat-up look is basically all there is to choose from when modelling vehicles in Chechnya- either that or they are just plain stinking with mud and snow! Cheers mate.

Matt- thanks for checking in!

Eddy- your comments are very much appreciated, my pleasure to share it with you guys.

Mauro- Thanks for taking a look. Remember it was your references that helped me get both the BTR and figure looking right .

Well Karl, looking at references is useful if someone can use them...otherwise they will be pointless. You've used them in a stunning way

great work indeed

Great build, Karl! The weathering is very convincing and gives the "feel" of Chechenya.

Thanks for sharing

How did ya do the worn areas around the turret? I have a Skif MT-LB on the way, and would like to try to try this look. The red, rusty areas ?

Actually thats supposed to be mud, dirt and dust !
Looking at it now it does appear a kind of rusty, must be the lighting I was using.

Anyway, thats just pigments over some painted scratches- use a rust colored pigment and you should get a similar effect.
