This is the Academy kit built mostly from the box with stowage added. It was an easy and fun project. This model was painted in modulation style with Tamiya colors and weathered with Mig's filters, pigments and oils.

I hope you enjoy!smile

Krill this looks very good and I really like the colour modulation style you have used. I suggest you send the pictures with a short write up to the features team here at Armorama.

Looks really good. I really like the weathering and added items.

It has a couple small issues though. One is the stowage. The sleeping bag and MRE box are post-ODS items. The sleeping bag in stuff sack came out around '01. The larger, more square MRE boxes came out in the late '90s.

The last item is the rear lights. Only the upper left oval should be red. The other side and below the oval on the left should be black slits. You can see the setup below on an M113, which has the same lights.

Great job overall. A few tweaks and it will be even better.

Great job, love the look and the overall feel of the piece! One question, should the markings on the side of the tank be "mirror image" as you have them, or the same on each side? I'm a WWII guy, so not familiar with the modern marking schemes!

I'm still new to that forum and not very familiar with the forum. Please explain more about what and where you propose to send?

Thank you for the evaluation of the model, Gino P. Quintiliani.
As for the sleeping bags, etc. I trusted the manufacturer, this particular outfit he offers at the time of action.
As for tail light - I agree. And because I had this picture lights, but became interested in painting the model and did not notice. painted as too much!

As for the inscriptions and the tank, I just used the decals from the set. Photos of the real machine with inscriptions I have found, unfortunately, so admit vaiant label proposed by the manufacturer of the model.

Wow Kirill .... another very strong model. Great to see you posting on Armorama ... we need more modellers such as your self. I like how the stowage and air recognition sheet contrast in colour from the tank itself. Very nice!!

Yup, you should never trust the model companies or AM manufacturers for accuracy. A little reasearch goes a long way.

It's never too late to fix the light too. A little paint and they will be good.

Another small issue with what is otherwise an excellent build. You have what appears to be rust streaks on the hull? Such streaking would not be possible on an m551 as the hull was aluminum.

Same thing I was thinking. Aluminum would be a bright color when freshly scratched, darker when aged, and would corrode a white color which is the color streaks would be.

Thank you for your comment to this work.
Tint headlight now will not, simply because now I'm doing another model. Sheridan - this is my old work and come back to it I do not want to, but the error in the headlamp remember to work on the M113.

The fact that the car aluminum body, I of course knew the possibility of rust and we have repeatedly discussed with Russian counterparts. Yes, it will not be as intense rusty places like steel body, but if there is no proper care of the machine is capable of even aluminum coated with a thin coating of rust, usually rusty formed in the weld and the various cavities paint chips from diluted streams of water during rain.
Maybe I'm a little too far and with the rust, but, as we say in Russian: "Do not mistake the one who does not do anything!"

You are correct that the turret is steel and is welded together with ferrous materials, both of which rust.

The hull should not rust even where it is welded as it is made from aluminum alloys which are welded together with non-ferrous materials that don't rust. If you look at the pictures you have posted you will notice that the the bare metal is a light bright color on the hull. You will also notice that in the example you have shown there is very minimal streaking from corrosion on this portion of the Sheridan. In other words, there is no way for the basic hull to rust or have rust streak.

That being said, any sheetmetal (ie: steel) components that are added to the hull will certainly rust and rust streaks will originate from these select areas.

I hope this makes sense, let me know any of what I wrote is confusing.
