Dear friends

After a couple of weeks of abscence from the board I wish I had a better reason to say hello. I still have shivers while writing thiis as I accesed my mails only this morning.

On Saturday I got a mail from his wife Margot that our friend Romain (1stjaeger) passed away.

He had cancer since a couple of years and had repeated treatments.Unfortunately his situation degraded rapidly in the last couple of days and according to Margot, it was in the end a big relief for him when finally he couldn't no more.

I had the opportunity to meet Romain and his wife once. He is from Luxembourg and lives in Vienna. During one of his visits to his home country we arranged a visit in my garage to get a look at my diorama. Well, the look took two hours when I remember well.

On this forum, he was probably one of the most helpful
guys, with great knowledge and always the right words, even when critizing.

For his next diorama base Romain is by now pobably considering using a little cloud. Hey, but no tanks on it please.

My condolences went already per mail to Margot, I wish to repeat them here.

Romain, you will be well remembered!

With great sadness

Claude

Claude send his wife a link to this forum thread as it may bring some comfort to see just how much her husband will be missed here and the way he was thought of by people he had never met from around the globe.

Maybe an idea to merge this topic with the other one, so she can read all the replies?

I did not see the topic started by Paul, sorry for that. ( I am not on Facebook neither)
As he did not yet get any answers, probably because Romain stayed mostly on the diorama section (as far as I know) it's probably ok to stay here for now.

Very sad to hear this: I always exchanged very nice messages with Romain, and I've saved many pictures of his works. I will miss him and his valuable comments.

My sincere condolences and thoughts to his wife.

As some may have seen from my posts early last week I was concerned when I didn't see my good buddy posting anywhere on the board. He was usually here in a few forums every day and his talented eye didn't miss a thing!
So when I learned from an e-mail that my worst fears were confirmed I had a mixture of sadness, anger and then relief. I have known family, friends and even pets that have been claimed by this awful disease and their passing in the end is always what is best for them as it is so painful. We,being human and selfish, usually want to hold onto them here on earth because we don't want to be without them. But I believe God knows when they need to go home and we have to let them go.
You will be missed every time I look at Armorama and even when I am not looking my good paratrooper buddy!
There is now a big hole in my heart and on this forum as one can see from all the posts here and on the armor forum.
If there has to be one word to sum up this good man it would be a word that used to have a special meaning and that word is...Gentleman.

Very sad news indeed.

Romain was one of the friendliest guys here on Armorama and even more than his modeling input, I'll miss the social nature of his content and participation.

Our little neighborhood of modelers was a better, richer place with him.

Rest in peace, Romain. You will be missed.

Sincerely,
Mike Roof

My sincere condolences to Romain's family and friends.

Romain was a great guy. I really enjoyed talking to him in the forums and private messages. A super modeler. I was saddened when I learned he had cancer.

His last PM to me (January) reveals his indomitable and caring spirit:

Unfortunately, the treatment has its side-effects, and life isn't always easy these days!
Nevertheless, I will keep fighting to the end!
My brave wife deserves no less!!

And after all, I've got a diorama to finish!

Cheers my friend!

Romain

Since there are now two items, covering the death of our beloved and highly appreciated fellow-modeller Romain, the webmaster might be able to combine them to one item?

Romain will be missed here on the forums as I'm sure he is being missed elsewhere. He was one of the most helpful guys I've ever met! He even took the time to exchange emails and explain his techniques to me. Not something to be taken as granted nowadays.

My thoughts are with his wife and family! Rest in peace, Romain!

Sorry to see that he has passed. Cancer is a horrible thing.
You can tell what kind of person he was, judging by the responses here. I really enjoyed his work and he will be genuinely missed.
Rest in Peace Romain.
