This is Flyhawk's latest in their series of 1/72 armor. Mostly went together like a dream! Although some of the PE is very small, and the link-and-length tracks, while fitting very good for their size, were small and fiddley.

Way to go Leo! The model looks great put together and I particularly think the paint colour is appropriate. It’s hard to get the right mix with Tamiya XF-63. It’s usually too dark as the paint is pretty dark to begin with. In fact, painting looks very good.

Cheers,
Jan

Thanks Jan! My little secret...I airbrushed the whole tank in Tamiya German Gray, then did panel fading with progressively lighter shades of the same. When all was dry I applied a glaze of acrylic Citadel Blue thinned with water. This blended the gray shades and gave a blue-ish hint to the gray. Then black oil pin washes, dry-brushing, and final pin-point highlighting with a white pencil. And, of course, good old pigments!

What's your secret to getting the tracks so realistically coloured?

Nothing special...just painted them a mix of red-brown and gray, dry-brushed metallic, then brushed on pigments. Results may vary!

Well done. This appears to be the kit of the year IMHO.

Cheers

@Biggles2 – Leo ,

Sorry I’m late (as usual). Outstanding job all around! I don’t believe those turret numbers are provided for as an option in this kit but they do look the part, nice.

The only thing missing in this kit is the 2 cm antenna.

Yeah, I sourced the turret numbers from my spares, as the kit decals were a little sparse. Guess I just plain forgot the antennna. There doesn't appear to be a base or socket for one. I'll have to look closer!

Hi Biggles, really nice job on such a tiny vehicle, these Flyhawk kits are really impressive aren't they!

ps the antenna socket should be on the RHS just forward of the engine covers, easily added if they missed it.

Flyhawk is the new Dragon!

Their 1/700 ship models are the best, too!
