I'm currently working on a project where I need quite a few Sdkfz 251's and have been accumulating quite a collection including some of the 3 in 1 jobs from DML. While doing my research I was quite surprised to see how many variants there were between the two types and for once DML's obsession with producing variants of the same kit has paid off. Rather than Tigers with a different antenna fitting and an extra wheel nut they cover most of the different variants of the 251 from the straightforward APC to flamethrower track in two variants (C+D bodies) so we're spoilt for choice with AFV Club ones as well. Then of course there's the simpler Tamiya ones so kits for all levels of builder.

I'm thinking of a 12 month build so that'll give everyone plenty of time as I know how some people like to superdetail with PE and the like and of course normal daily occurences can create problems towards getting to the workbench. People can build as many as they like but only one ribbon. The options there to build just the vehicle or put it in a dio or vignette hence the extra time. There's no campaign that's similar at the moment so I'd say start in the next couple of months to give people time to do a bit of research and source a kit. I'm currently building one for the 500 Campaign and am enjoying the build so looking forward to cracking on with the others in my stockpile. Any thoughts anyone?

I'd be happy to join.
I have a 250 waiting to be finished (too many AM), and if started models are not acceptable, I do have a couple of unstarted as well.

Seems like we just did a 250/251 campaign, but checking my facts I see it was actually back in 2013: https://archive.kitmaker.net/forums/212777#1852312

I don't have one in the stash at the moment, but could be persuaded to join.

Maybe move it forward a little?
There aren't many starting around this time and quite a few are reaching their enddate soon.

That's ten so I'll submit it. Ron, I could move it forward as you're right there's nothing like it and there's quite a few finishing in the next couple of months. Shall we say beginning of February? I'll submit it as that as it sounds like most of us have got something already and with it being a year build it gives people time to jump on at any time once they've picked one up.

One of the bits I've put in there is about sharing info with each other. I see some campaigns and noone seems to help each other out with links and stuff which always seems a shame. There's a pile of stuff out there for 250's and 251's, both photos and written so personally if I find anything of interest I'll stick it up here as it may be of use to someone in their build. As we know manufacturers are not fool proof. I've got a 250/3 Neu in my stash waiting. When I was doing the research DML have got the interior stowage completely wrong looking at it as they've done it as the Alte which is completely different. I'm really looking forward to this just to see what everyone's building as there's so much choice. I've got two 250's and five 251's to build. I've started one for the 500+ campaign but not decided what to go for for this one. Decisions decisions. Odds are in the next month I'll inevitably buy something else to add to the pile.. One of the beauties of living on my own is I can pile my kits up in the living room so I can see what I've got for a project without a grumpy girlfriend complaining about the boxes lol.

These are a few I've been looking through recently...

http://www.kfzderwehrmacht.de/Homepage_english/Motor_Vehicles/Germany/Hanomag/m__SPW/m__spw.html

Those two list the different types, years of service, description, body types used etc.

This one is a mine of photos of allsorts of German vehicles plus is easy to navigate.

This one is photos of restored vehicles which once again covers allsorts of stuff so useful in general.
Have alook and see what you think.

I agree Karl, sharing info is one of the key ingredients.
I have a lot of info and books on both vehicles, 1000's of images, but I sold a lot of my kids years ago.
Only one left unstarted is a 250/9 Ausf B (note no "alte" or "neu", Ausf.A or Ausf.B) or I might just cobble together a 251 from my spares.
Does that say something about the amount of spares I have??

Dang!
This is probably the 3rd time in recent history that I've gotten about 90% done with a kit and someone suggests a campaign for that vehicle. I am working on a 251/something what if. I guess I will have to get on Hobblinc and buy one! Boy won't the wife be pleased!

Beginning of March works well for me as I have a few things I need to finish before I start the halftrack. I really want to start holding myself to finishing one thing before I begin another!! Yes,I believe modelers' ADHD can be overcome!!! LoL

Jerry, I'm exactly the same. Loads of unfinished projects hanging about. I'll see a photo or someones finished kit and think "That looks good" or "That would be great as a diorama" then start and the same thing happens again lol. I've got 2 1/2 King Tigers built up for an Ardennes dio that never happened. I've found that the only way I can stick to something is if I enter a campaign so I don't get distracted lol. Having said that the 251's I've been accumulating are supposed to be going into a big Normandy dio I've got planned and I've been quite good building vehicles and figures for it so it may actually happen yet.

It's nice to see so much interest in the campaign so far. Hopefully we should get some good numbers involved as we're pretty spoilt for choice on versions. I can't believe the amount of spare parts on the DML 3 in 1 kits. I think by the time I've built all the ones I've got stashed there should be a box full of parts.

I think I'm going to either build a 251/7 or 251/9 as I've got both sat waiting to be built. There's 2 x 251 Stuka zu Fuss as well but I may build them up as something else. I've noticed that the one 251 missing off manufacturers lists is the ambulance version and I can't even find a conversion kit for that one which is a shame as I quite fancied building one of those for my planned dio as there's a field hospital in there. Good to see the variety of versions already planned. Should be an interesting campaign.
