Hi gents

Iam looking to get hold of plans for a UR-416 and a Hyena mpv .

Now ive got it in my head that they were both available in old issues of tankette but I cant find all my old copies.

Ive checked out the index on the mafva site and don't see them listed so maybe iam mistaken.

Anyone know if iam correct if so what issues were they in or if they may be available elsewhere.

thanks in advance
Jimmie

Hi Peter,
The UR-416 rings a bell, German built armoured truck?
Do you mean the Rodesian hyena?

IIRC they were sketched but did not appear as plans.

11.2 M German Y 76 Daimler Benz Rheinstahl U-R 416 APC & Recce Walbridge
Vol 11/2 So thats one plan

I don't think the hyena was drawn, but would have appeared in one of these
22.3 M Rhodesian Y Rhino APC Blevin
24.6 M Rhodesian Y Armour during UDI Jerome
28.6 M Rhodesian Y Armour update - Leopard not Rhino Blevin
29.3 M Rhodesian Y Mine-protected vehicle designs part 1 Blevin
29.5 M Rhodesian Y Mine-protected vehicle designs part 2 Blevin
29.5 M Rhodesian Y 76 Ojay, based on 0.75 tonne Land Rover Neate
29.6 M Rhodesian Y Mine-protected vehicle designs part 3 Blevin
29.6 M Rhodesian Y 76 Pookie Neate
30.1 M Rhodesian Y 76 CMED/Army Crocodile Neate
30.1 M Rhodesian Y Mine-protected vehicle designs part 4 Blevin
30.2 M Rhodesian Y Y 76 Bedford RL "Spikey" mine-protected truck Neate
30.2 M Rhodesian Y Mine-protected vehicle designs part 5 Blevin
30.3 M Rhodesian Y Mine-protected vehicle designs part 6 Blevin
30.4 M Rhodesian Y 76 Land Rover, armoured 1 tonne commercial forward control Neate
30.4 M Rhodesian Y Mine-protected vehicle designs part 7 Blevin
30.5 M Rhodesian Y Mine-protected vehicle designs part 8 Blevin

My Tankettes are in the loft so I won't be able to check them for a while. You might first try contacting the membership officer Neil Wharton at [email protected] .
If he has not got them try the info officer at [email protected] for copies.

Morning Peter,

Glad to know my memory is not completely defunct. IIRC photos appear in the Peter Stiff book on the Selous Scouts, no doubt in his other books as well.

Glad to have been of help.

Thread on my 1:35th build of Rhodesian UR416 inspired vehicle is at http://www.newrhodesian.ca/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=7743

Unfortunately most photos of the threat have been 'Photobucketed'

Hi Paul,
Just catching up (with life!).
That looks a good site, just a shame about the 'bucketing' issue.

Would it be worth sending the info into JP (John Paulding) who is building up the new MAFVA website at www.mafva.org . JP is a bit of a 'Nam nut, which shows in his dioramas! He would welcome any new input to keep the site lively.

Take care,

Paul M.
