Here is a photo of C-36, 1/32AR in the "Back 40" at Ray Barracks, Friedberg in early 1977. Notice the three tubes bolted on top of the housing for the .50 cal. They are not part of what came from the factory. They were add by the unit with the objective of having something that could properly hold the the red, yellow and green flags during tank gunnery. They were three metal tubes welded to a flat piece of metal that had a hole near one end. It was through that hole that the tubes were bolted to the tank.

The DEF kit 35056 is for the Academy kit. Although I imagine a lot of it could be transferred to any M60A2- I think the main issues would be with the mantlet and the drive sprocket- how they would fit on the Dragon kit I have no idea.

Dragon kit... By the time the slope-front air cleaner boxes came along, the T97 chevron track was gone. We replaced the side loaders when we drew our tanks in July, '75. T97 track was replaced in 1977. Still had the flat Yoplait air cleaners in '78.

As such, it is filled with errors, or as I think “things to model better”.

I've only just seen this post and a very good one it is, thank you.

PS I like how you think.

Soooo, AFV has 2 kits out, to add to this mix. I will adjust my plans a tiny bit, and do a "detail" history of my tank, C-23 from 1/37th armor.
I will do the Dragon kit as the "as delivered" style, 1 five gallon can (water), no back deck box , no 2x4 between the headlights,Chevron track.
The first AFV club, will be September 77 ish. 2x4, back deck box, octagon pad track.Damaged, replaced catwalk next to right side aircleaner painted a lighter green.
The final AFV version, will be with all the bells and whistles. 2 additional 5 gallon cans (loader's side of the bustle rack, for oil) octagon pad track, 2x4 , back deck box.
