And then it's 5 months later.. Everybody has been showing some really nice builds and cool kits!! Everyone except me of course.

Like i said, i'm in with a Toga Polish Armoured Car Wz. 34. The obligatory start shot:



Note the date: januari 6. A month and a half later my son Tim was born. Due to some complications, modelling took a back burner for a while. And when i started up again i started something a bit larger. But now it's the Wz.34's turn!

What's in the kit (incl. the 1996 catalog):


Like most older eastern bloc kits, the detail is somewhat soft, fit is not really all that great, the instructions are not the clearest and the subject matter is awesome. They are often models that had not appeared in 1/35 scale before or have since. Mostly vehicles from the country of origin (in this case Poland), sometimes obscure allied or axis contraptions. With these kits, you either love it or hate is. And i'm in the "love it" section. The kits do require a bit of work, but that's what this hobby is about, right

The Polish armoured car Wz. 34 is still in production, from Mirage. Molds from these type of kits seem to change hands quite often as can be seen on scalemates.

Like i said, the instructions leave a bit to be desired. It's not a difficult kit, so that's not really a problem. Assembly is quick, but somewhat fiddly in places. Most noticeably in the suspension. The tires are from some weird rubber stuff. The fit was very tight around the axles. The combination of those elements resulted in a broken spare tire

And halfway, after a few hours, you have this:


The molds hadn't been aligned in places. The guns were off by almost a millimeter. A better options was to just cut and sand some nails with the correct diameter and use those instead. Same goes for the grab handles and doorknobs. Some copper wire is better than the flat-on-one-side pieces in the kit. The supports on the top of the fenders aren't included. Some cars seem to have them, others do not. I think it looks nice, so i added them.

It'll end up in a small vignette with these figures from Scibor Miniatures. Obviously from Poland as well

And no idea if it's available in the US. I would assume so I know Mirage kits are available online, on eBay for example. But the shipping costs wil likely be prohibitive. Toga kits and the like are usually in the back corner of a hobby shop, in a bargain bin somewhere. I found mine by chance, bought from a fellow modeller for very little

Change of plans here. Turns out the Peerless Max kit was a disaster, misaligned molds, heavy seams, and flash all over. I'm shifting to the Tristar Panzer 38(t) Ausf. E/F (kit #35020). Should be a much better build.

Looking to maybe get started soon on this Master Box kit

Hi Mark...I feel your pain. I had the Tristar 38(t) Ausf.B and the individual track links were horrible...I got one side on and said forget it...too much work. it's been setting on the workbench for about 4 years...unfinished.

It wasn't all that great when it was new, but it was all there was.

Well while I have been quiet over the last few weeks I've been working on my Hurricane which I am now calling done. It would appear I had some hiccups with the canopy but c'est la vie it happens sometimes. The use of Tamiya thin liquid cement had capillary action sucking it up into places I didn't want it. I did do some remedial work on it but it would appear that it wasn't sufficient. Anyways it was a really nice kit to build and I had a ball with it. Putting it in Finnish camo makes it an eye catcher and different from the usual fare of scheme's "A" and "B". I look forward to seeing what everybody else comes up with it's been truly varied so far.

That looks great, Chris! Painting and weathering are fantastic! I can't see any issues with the canopy from the photos, but I'll take your word for it. I like to use Testors clear part cement for things like that since it won't craze clear styrene the way normal cement will.

Thanks Clayton I appreciate the compliments. I will use Tamiya extra thin if I think the gap is big enough otherwise I use Humbrol clearfix. I misjudged it this time however live and learn eh?

I have now also finished my entry for this campaign. Reinforcements for my Dust Tactics Axis Winter army. A unit of laser grenadiers and a command squad.

Sorry, not the best pictures in the world. I will do a photo session of the army later.

Jasper you certainty have been coming up with some interesting kits lately
So i was working on my kit that comes with 4 figures, 2 are here

When I realized that 2 of the figures were in winter Uniforms and 2 weren't. So I decided to go with 2 in the winter Great coats
Then I found this old Taymia figure lurking around. I gave him some updated gear and will use him to patrol the base

Finished my 1/72 Platz Predator MQ-1B. Painted with some old Floquil Warbirds US Light Grey, washed with a dark grey liner, and then post-shaded with a mix of the light grey and white. I sealed the paint with Future, and applied decals, then coated it with a Vallejo satin varnish.The base is a bunch of pieces of styrene and Woodland Scenics turf. The sign decal came with the kit, and I made the sign itself out of the same styrene sheet and a piece of balsa spar for the post and painted it panzer grey. I added a bunch of AFV weathering effects to the concrete, including pastel chalks, pigments, spilled fuel, oil, engine grime, rust, and puddled rainwater. Overall time on this project was about 15 hours, the majority of it spent today making the base and doing the details on the UAV.
