Very nice looking. How is their quality? How is the quality of Dragons version?

This will be much better than the old Dragon kit. And I love their tracks, so easy to assemble.

Ooh this looks like another great paper panzer project that I won't be able to resist. Will be looking forward to getting this.

Honestly, and IMO, I wouldn't really compare a recient AH kit (post 2014) with their first releases which really are top notch and full of detail, as from their VK 7201 K onwards they have simplified their kits a fair bit.

Either way, I'll probably buy their Conqueror MK 1, Jagdpanther II, and maybe this kit too, when they hit the shelves.

Also a first hand warning, their plastic tracks are a nightmare to assemble.

Well, the only kits I've build are their Lowe and Leopard, both were excellent and the tracks went together perfectly without any glue. The pins held in place perfectly, and I didn't find any major negatives with either kit (unless you really want to replace the barrel).

As far as "Paper-Panzer" kits go, this new "Panther II" is more like it, AND more believable, as far as I'm concerned!!!

Sort of...

I won't bother with AMUSING HOBBY's new "Jagdpanther II" kit- I don't like the lack of any Engine access, among a few other things.

If I were on the design team at AMUSING HOBBY, and if it came down to me in creating a "Jagdpanther II" kit, I'd have done it differently. I'd have started by using this new "Panther II" as a base-kit, and altered the design by integrating a Late Jagdpanther-style Casemate into the FRONT half of the Upper Hull of the new "Panther II", thereby creating an all-new "Jagdpanther II" Upper Hull assembly. I'd have kept the Lower Hull of this new "Panther II" kit as it is, and mated it to my new "Jagdpanther II" Upper Hull assembly, and PRESTO! A PROPER "Jagdpanther II" with no questionable features..!

To me anyway, this makes more sense than messing around with a Casemate mounted on the REAR of the Upper Hull half, and mistakenly leaving out Engine access... Oh well, it is what it is...

In fact, I just MIGHT buy TWO of these new AMUSING HOBBY "Panther II" kits, (eventually, that is), and use one of them to kit-bash my very own "Jagdpanther II" by mating it with the necessary parts gleaned from a DRAGON Late Jagdpanther kit...

As far as I'm concerned, that's an EASY conversion...

They have mix-n-match a Panther II (a vehicle designed before the Panther G) and the Schmallturm of a Panther F??

Yup. They kinda got it right and kinda got it wrong. There were only 2 turrets developed/proposed for the Panther II and NONE of them were the Schmalturm that was to be used on the Panther F.

At the least, I hope the hull layout matches the one that was captured. Cheers

It actually looks like the right one. Notice how it's longer than a Schmalturm, and doesn't have the round piece on the front. Looks like this one.

Agree. The Ryton Panther/Jagdpanther book shows this Turret, but is drawn with solid lines rather than broken ones...

I wonder if they got the turret dimensions right this time, as you may recall that Dragon completely dropped the ball on the schmallturm for their Panther II kit several years back which was hardly "Schmall". I had to measure, cut and piece the beast together as it was too wide, for starters. After that it all becomes a blur...

Hi, Frank!!!

Yeah, I too, did that on my old DRAGON "Panther II", plus, I had to alter the Lower Hull to fit the necessary re-positioning of the Suspension's Bell-cranks and Road Wheel assemblies. I wound up scratch-building my own "Schmallturm", and the above, following the drawings in the old RYTON "Panther/Jagdpanther" book. I used Friul's Tiger II Transport Tracks, and I also scratch-built a new Main Gun, again referring to the drawings in the RYTON book...

Guess I'll have to scratch-build another "Schmallturm", or just cannibalize the entire Turret/Main Gun assembly from my old DRAGON "Panther II"... That WOULD be the "easier solution".

Actually, DRAGON "dropped the ball" on basically their ENTIRE "Panther II" kit, what with all the work that's required in order to match "the real thing"...

Prior to the release of this new AMUSING HOBBY "Panther II", I had been considering doing a "re-do", using DRAGON's
"Panther F" kit as a starting base, and altering IT to match the RYTON drawings of the "Panther II"- Now, that won't be necessary, saving me A LOT of work...

I'm excited to have an accurate chassis but the turret may need modification to drop the range finder bulges (and i can't get a good view of the rear to know how that looks. The good news is, you could always drop an Ausf A turret on there and be good, or Real Model had a very nice resin H-SK 88517 turret if you can find it. Or do a search for Luis Alho's excellent step by step build that includes the turret.

Nice, about time there was a decent kit of this. I still have my built Dragon kit, wasone of the few tosurvive frommy early builds, but will definatly think about getting this one.

I noticed a couple of people mention the jagdpanther II, hasthat already been released or is it still to come.

The box art image is wrong... maybe the kit has the right turret but the optic finders are not correct.

The Schmalturm was developed only for the Panther F.

STILL, looks like a quality kit.

The Jagd Panther II is slated for mid to late December release and is on pre-order on several sites. AH release dates are not a science though.

Hey, All!!!

Here's ANOTHER possibility:

Use the resin PAPER PANZER PRODUCTIONS #PPP35021 "Einheitsturm", since we're only dealing with a conjectural "Paper-Panzer", as it is...

I just might do that instead of going thru all of the other B/S...
