I was starting a dio based on peacetime civilians and wondered if that was allowed on this forum and if so,how many would want to see a guild blog ? War and bad news in general lately has made me want to build peaceful themed topic.

So OK. Seven yea and zero nay. I suppose you could that is a mandate.

Here is the set that jogged my enthusiasm. It is from Master Box? I think? Or maybe Miniart. But I think MB.
Not military so the very very cool posed horse and rider will be in something else,who knows what ?



Here is the huebsche frau with some undercutting and just tacked together right out of the proverbial box.



Here you can see a pretty nice caboose and I also really enhanced the detail on the wooden shoes,opening up the sides where her dainty feet go in.



Here is some more undercutting on all the details in the dress and apron,etc plus the re-posing has begun. I will now add the putty.





Besides the gaps to be filled I will address the hat as it looks wonkey from the side. In real life the poor woman would have to be missing a good 1/3 of her head. So far I have reduced the bow on the hat in half and dropped her right shoulder to fit the new pose. The new detail will be scribed in or enhanced with the good old putty.
I will leave it to you guys to surmise what activity she will be engaged in.
So.....off we go.

I got the first app. of putty on last night.



As can be easily seen the hat was added to,a bag also and more under -cutting was done so she is starting to "sharpen up" a bit more. Makes it easier to paint.




I also began to use the balsa board for the first time. So far-meh. It is extremely soft and fragile and I am not impressed. I like my plain old cheap plaster of paris much better.
Both things with primer.

Got some Nappy-stuff on the workbench too. Two figures from Andrea and "retreat" from Pegaso so I will follow your progress with much interest knowing there will be a lot to learn again.

Jerry, big time lurker on your projects. BTW, thanks for all the photos, tips and taking the time to answer all of our questions ! A peace time dio would be much appreciated.

I painted part of the balsa board. It is fast to carve and very light but it is a pain to paint. Maybe it is supposed to be sealed with something ?

Yes,chickens but I only have one chicken. I will have to make a mold of her and cast more in resin. I don't want to buy a whole set of animals just for one chicken ! LoL

I'm with you there Jerry. I much prefer scratch plaster buildings to any other type though I've had some success with vac form plastic. Balsa foam is too impermanent for me.
