not looking to stir a political pot, I usually build German armor, which kits should I use to build the SEAL Humvee with Trump flag, it looks like an uparmored Humvee with a turret of some kind and I presume the large antenna means its a common vehicle, anyone else have ideas as to the best base kit, wheels and I presume one of the Live Resin turrets

Don, building the SEAL GMV will take a lot of work. The base kit would be Academy's M1151. The real vehicle is based in on the M1165 but there is no kit of that vehicle. Major surgery is required to remove the back half of the roof. Then you have to scratch build the bed armor. This is a much newer vehicle than either the Legend or Black Dog GMV conversions will let you build. There is a Polish modeler who makes a great set of photo etched parts to do the roof, but I'm not sure if they are for a M1025 or M1165 based vehicle. The M1025 based GMV is a generation older and will not work. Sorry there isn't better news. There are quite a few walk-around photos available so reference are not hard to come by.

Regards,

Eric

^^^holy cow this seems like a lot of work, in your opinion is this vehicle popular enough that an easy conversion or complete kit could happen in the future? Or is this a one-off and relatively rare (although that doesn't seem to hinder German topics) I thought this would be an interesting build as it doesn't look overly weathered driving down an expressway

Don, I think it likely well see a more up to date version of the GMV-S in the future. Legend has hinted at one. Peter Samofalov has been involved with making some parts available on his Shapeways store but is now working with Legend. His first few conversions are set to release later this month. Sadly none are of a GMV but are TOW missile launchers and turrets. If these are any indication, if he does a new GMV conversions it will be stellar.

Erix

^^thanks for the info, I'll put it on my list of "someday" projects for now. After doing more reading I am surprised to see that nobody has kitted a more modern Humvee, not that I mind having 2 new Maus, but a vehicle that is in active use and no model of it? I remember the olden days when Tamiya was the only game in town and new releases came out in years not months. Ive got the Airborne miniatures SEAL team and first Legend figure I was thinking of doing a "what if" scenario with the Humvee

I think my SOF HMMWV walkaround is what you need. It'll show you what everything is, and where it goes. The one pictured looks very much like the GMV used by 10th SFG(A)
I think Eric can probably vouch for the walkaround. PM me if interested.

Invariably when I post something about my walk arounds I get PM's about them from some of the newer members. Simply put, they're the finest collection of detail photos for modeling on any of the subjects offered: Cougars, Buffalo, RG series, SOF HMMWVs, Maxx Pros, Strykers... Nearly all have been the basis for every modern kit produced of the very same vehicles.
And they're cheaper than books, no tax, no postage, and they never fall apart. PM for details.

To those newer members, these really are as good as the advertising suggests. Take it from a user!
