Members,

Up front: I'm fairly new, please excuse the "simple" question.

Is it my imagination, or have I seen reference to the color of some Wehrmacht uniforms being called "Reed Green?" If so, why is it that I found only one source to get paint labeled specifically that way/color (from Germany I think, with an exorbitant shipping/postage rate)?

Thank you,

I wouldn't sweat an exact color match too much. Find something close and roll with it. Colors fade or get sun bleached. Different dye lots of the same color don't necessarily look the same. Not all troops wash their uniforms as often as others. Different materials take dye differently. Just some of the reasons why an exact match doesn't really matter. Just have fun and good luck.

Vallejo # 70.920, though it is labeled as German Uniform, I've seen it mentioned as a good match for Reed Green.

This colour was introduced for summer light weight wear on a material that use to be issued as work wear.

Gentlemen, Thank you for both replies! I just ordered the recommended Vallejo paint. You also reminded me how different US Army BDUs looked when soldiers of varying lengths of service stood in a group! 1SGJFC

Yes, it is also recommended that a drop of white be added to the suggested Vallejo paint. The reed green cloth was a denim type, so it tended to fade quickly, not only from washing but from general use as well.
