Hi All,

Shell, Colin - great finishing on your kits!

Update #3 - Finish

I've also managed to push the Chi-Ha to finish line.
Generally lots have happened and lots stuff used, stuff I remember:
1) Tamiya panel liner black & brown
2) Buff oil from 502 abteilung & yellow ochre from some Polish vendor;
3) Pigments from Mirage Hobby, MiG & Vallejo
4) Engine oil streaks from MiG and some rust streaks from Vallejo...
And some more.

So the kit now looks like that:

Thank you, it was fun to watch your builds and wish you all , who haven't yet reached "finish" to complete

Cheers,
Radek

Looks good, Nate. I have this kit; how was the build with all the PE for the radios and what-not?

So do we have until midnight tonight or tomorrow? I’m super close to done. I think I can finish by midnight tomorrow!

Shell,

The base kubelwagen kit is excellent and the radio equipment (supplied as pastic) is quite nice. The PE radio compartment is a pretty good representation of the real thing. That said, I could not get it to fit correctly. I am considering trying to rebuild it using plastic card.

Hello everyone,
I finished my kit. Dragon moulded it from 90s of previous century, so it's terrible in assembly. I used the track chains from AFV Club and painted it in JGSDF camo with Mr Hobby paint set.

I built the ambulance version not long ago and liked the vehicle better than the Tamiya version, but as you probably know sometimes Dragon doesn't "measure twice-cut once" many times when they do a variant on one of their kits and the new parts don't always align quite right.

I recently bought Tamiya's Kubelwagen repair set and plain to use another Dragon Kubel to simulate an oil change/valve adjustment scene based on my years as a VW bus owner lying underneath the beast and getting oil-splattered. But I plan to build the radio version before that happens.

The WWP Wireless for Wehrmacht book is very helpful resource, with a couple good pictures of a radio equipped Kubelwagen. Especially nice since some of the part placements in the instructions are wrong. It also has you build a transmitter that would not have been used with the Kubelwagen (but a useful spare).
