The mantlet has rounded corners at the left side, a feature seen only on the earliest Tigers in 1942 and early 1943.

The hole for the driver's visor is too high, by about 10% of the total wall height. The visor halves themselves match it, so they are too high. I suspect that Trumpeter copied another kit, because no real Tiger would ever have the visor in that position; the halves were geared together.

David, do you plan to put up a tweaks list for this kit? Cheers, Tat

If the Trumpeter Tiger had been "perfect" they would be accused of copying Dragon's!

More fun at the party! With David's help this kit might be worthwhile or, more likely, another "reasonable approximation of the real thing" kind of kit. While the instructions are irritating and far too small, and the detail fiddly, The Dragon kit does build up well. Not perfect, mind you. It'll be interesting to see how this one does.

Well if companies are going to keep churning out tigers, they should attempt accuracy. A couple of incorrect fixable details is acceptable - but early style mantlets and weird visor locations is just poor research...probably relying on tertiary sources. That being said, most of us probably have extra mantlets. If it's anything close to Dragon pricing, however, I don't see the point. Far from being an expert here, but the rear turret hatch looks a little...off...

Hobby Easy lists it at a little over US$25.

The marking options are interesting however, including SS sPzAbt 102 & the French captured version. Not that I'm suggesting for a moment you would buy a kit just for the marking options...

Yes, but it won't be complete until I see all the sprues in detail - at least.

Anyway, this is where I will comment on the Trumpeter Late Tiger 9540.

Doesn't every Dragon Tiger have two driver's visors?
Actually, I should check their accuracy too....
