Hi Israel. Great work on the Merkava 2B. Not sure if you have noticed but the kit barrel I think is incorrect as it has 5 barrel clamps after the middle section (fume extractor?) but the photos I have seen show 6 clamps.


Yeah, that's the reason I still haven't assembled and mounted the gun. I might invest in Magic Model's new offering, however the complexity of this mini-kit (around 60 resin, turned metal and PE pieces) and its relatively high price put me off, at least for now...


60 parts wow! I know the Eduard etch set for the academy merkava 4 set has barrel clamps but there’s not enough in one set. You could always scratchbuild the clamps though with lead foil straps and thin styrene rod.

Since I am waiting for my kti to arrive, are the kit supplied tracks Batash or earlier style?

Well, the actual tracks are indeed from the 'Batash' range. Now I'm sure I'm gonna replace them with some older-style AM stuff..

The kit is supplied with 'Batash' tracks, however there are a few older style tracks included as well (the ones I was looking yesterday assuming all tracks are like that), probably because the whole sprue was lifted from the Mk.1 range...

Have you seen Merkava IIBs with these tracks? I am stuck with 2 sets and do not know what to do with them, except buy Meng Merkava III Baz kits

Well, I use almost exclusively Tamiya paints. A couple of years back I did some experience with different mixture ratios using Buff, Khaki Drab and various greys in all possible combinations. My conclusion was that the best mixture is the recommended 50% XF-57 Buff mixed with 50% Grey of some kind. The recommendation does specify the XF-50 Medium Grey as the one to use, however, I actually found that by using different shades of Tamiya Greys I was able to achieve better results; I'm gonna go down that path this time as well.
