How interchangeable are add on Zimmerit kits? Will a Tamiya set work on a Dragon kit, etc .... ?

Generally, they are designed for the specific kit, as manufacturers may break the vehicle parts down or may have measured things differently. Some things like tool clasps might transfer, but the zim itself likely won't without some work.

And while the add-on sets may be focused on a particular model, if the zimmerit is scale thickness, it probably wouldn't be too hard to fit it to another kit, even the brass stuff, though that would be a lot more of a PITA.

Not a dumb question at all - there are no dumb questions, just dumb answers.

I recently used a Cavalier zimmerit set meant for a DML Panther A on a Takom Panther A and had no problems. Provided that the various kit manufacturers have made their models to the correct dimensions (something which some Tamiya kits in the old days did not), you shouldn't have any major issues.

Thanks, All. Only posted this as "stupid question" because I figured it had been asked a few hundred times before. I want to add a King Tiger or Panther with zim to the collection. Being on a fixed income I have to figure how to do it on the cheap. One of Dragon's molded zim kits, or find a low priced kit and after market zim combo. Decisions ... decisions ....
