The real bridge (encircled) was later replaced by a steel bridge. During RAF bombing, the steel bridge got damaged, but the wooden one got completely destroyed. Later, the steel bridge got repaired, but used a different design to replace what got destroyed.

I am eager too, but I have other irons in the fire too. So, though it will have development spells, it will be completed some time next year. I will always update any progress.

Yes, my models are not for me, for I have no reason to keep them. This one was going to be for a new and nearby military museum. They initially said they would like to have it, but have not followed through with my requests for information on their donation policy, and to have the model enclosed (pay for Perspex casing). So, I am now considering donating it to our local Returned and Services League (RSL) museum.

As an aside, have you read Miracle on the River Kwai by Ernest Gordon? He’s a survivor of that camp and this book is his story about it. He didn’t have too much to do with the bridge, but more the camp life and restoring a hopeful outlook for the POWs. It’s a good read.

Yes, I plan to show POW working on the railway construction. No train. However I may build a rail trolley with some sort of rail materials on it. In regards to [B.Sy...], yes, he is one of my closest friends.

My friend Jack was telling me about how his father, an ex-POW, had five bayonet stab wounds that passed through his body around the chest area. All missed vital organs. We were both sadly affected by this story. I had previously seen photographs of this brutality, but I did not let Jack know. It must have been terrifying to think, that upon each thrust of the bayonet, this is it (facing death).

It occurred to me, while using a pencil mark for aligning purposes, that they look like iron pins. later, I will mark all joints where pins and braces are used.
Minder is showing off again. But he assures me that he used to be a tight-rope walker.
