I guess it shows the depth of my ignorance I had no idea there was a rego # on the smock. Nicely done, must have involved a 1-hair brush & optivisor set to max

Thanks Tim,
Yeah, only shows up on certain models of smock. I have this huge, ridiculously comprehensive and expensive set of 2 tomes that cover SS cammo and have been using high rez, full color pics as refs. Makes it all a lot easier and the only limitations are my paltry levels of painting skills.

Here is the next guy. The forward observer carrying his scissors scope. This time,a little erbsenmuster cammo action.

Excellent fig by Rado. He will still get a bit of work and have a tripod slung over his shoulder as well as the folding stock for the MP40 and its' sling, etc. I took more time with the cammo on him and I like to tell myself it shows. LoL

HI Jerry,

Belated Happy New Year (well let's hope so).

This is a great choice for a little vignette.

It's easy to forget how important field telephones were at the time - and just how dangerous it was to lay them.

There's a sequence in the film Enemies at the Gate which shows this to very dramatic effect.

Anyway, keep these beautiful figures coming!

Thanks Tim for the very kind words and solicitations for the New Year.
Yes,I am in the mood right now to show the mundane tasks of the soldier and how even those tasks can be life threatening at times.

Next guy(the team leader) is wrapped up.

And a little context where he fits in the scene.

This is another Alpine fig with a Hornet head,LiveResin helmet and a little modification. A pleasure to paint as the detail is superbly sculpted in! No under cutting, etc, required!

Cheyenne and Dave!
Thanks buds, for keeping up with this slow moving thread. That bought of pneumonia really took the wind out of my sails, literally!
Here we see some progress on the pasture gate I asked for info about earlier and Sean was so helpful in providing. All Evergreen plastic.

Thanks Shawn!
I appreciate the kind words buddy.

I have some paint slapped on my gate. Here it is plus I included a bad pic of a pic from the one Sean sent me concerning the prototype in Normandy.

I am still adding layers of age on it. There needs to be more of those funky light colored spots going on. I believe that is lichen or mold.

Thanks for looking,

Nice job Jerry, perfect tones – I don’t envy doing the pale lichen, looks tricky to keep muted - bon chance!

Hello Jerry

Just catching up with this….

Paint work looks fantastic, really looks like wood that's been outside for some time in less than clement weather.

There is one thing and I've been mulling over whether to say anything…. there are almost always five bars. In the two photos I posted earlier the bottom one is hidden in the long grass, but it's there, and the diagonal brace reaches the corner.

It's not a major thing and I only noticed because I'm a nerd. You could, I think, extend the bottom quite easily. Like I said, repairs in very basic form are/were common, so just adding the planks would not be wrong at all. The bottom bar gets wet from mud, gets caught in long grass etc, so they do rot, break and need repair or replacement. Some wire, string or nails would hold it all together.
Or, as in the photos, some long grass will cover everything if you want to leave it.

Please take this in the spirit it was written

Cheers

Thanks for checking in and breaking cloaking status Sean!
I did note the 5 bars when you first sent the pic. I had to conform your original gate to the opening size I had on the dio. My decision was to go with 4 bars to maintain a certain rectangular shape, which I thought was more important than getting 5 bars in there. Hope that makes sense?
You are correct,it would be an easy fix to add a bar but I would still be faced with the same issue.
So I hate to do it but the artistic license card will be thrown down on the table here.
As always though, thanks for your help,
J

Jerry:
Looking fantastic. Can't wait to see how this ends up. Are you planning a relatively small base with a lot of action per square inch?

Also, I have to ask. How many projects are you working on at once? I'm jealous that you can put out so much quality work.

Regards,
JB
