Jagd-progress tonight.

I am not a well man. Aber etched frames with ancient DML parts (largely with the clamps left molded on) but adding the Aber latch parts.

and primed

The sledgehammer was reshaped to have one pointed end, though it is largely hidden under that etch frame (and I did bend the side flaps up after taking the pic)

This is how 'normal' people hobby, right?

Great work with the PE.
Looking good !!

I hope I can make it on this one, last year I didn't finish a single kit...

Dragon - jagstiger, wheels and lower hull have some work..
Tristar - Panzer IV B, turret is done, wheels painted.
Trumpeter T-64, turret done, wheels, lower hull done too, need to finish the tracks and some details on the hull
Trumpeter SA-8, interior is half painted and has some decals.

Mike - probably makes a lot more sense assembling the PE off the kit - I went the other way, so far not too bad, bur some of those small parts I find really difficult to see, never mind work with. I was worried that the tubes that the tow rope eyes go over would be really easy to knock off (with my clumsiness), so I drilled through the PE & tank body and glued in a small supporting post. This is the most challenging PE I've encountered in my few attempts at it, but so far not TOO bad! Only lost one piece so far. Btw, forgive my lack of knowledge, but what are these things for?

You are on a winning streak! Not launching any bits into the void AND getting those tubes and pins rolled is quite a feat.

The large C shaped hook is called a towing clevis. They hook into the large U shaped attachment points at the front and rear and the other end into a tow cable.

Cheers Mike, I figured it might be something like that. Was gonna iron some shirts for work, but I think I might just go and tackle some more etch...... or should I stick with the ironing lol!!

I actually started a kit with PE in it (AFV Club Wiesel MK20A1) and put it away until I had better lighting and magnification. But keep at it if you can.

My build is on hold so I can concentrate on the other campaigns I seem to have joined in a fit of optimism.

What is it?

looks like one of the larger Warhammer 40K tanks, but not as large as a Baneblade. It's bigger than a Leman Russ or a Chimera...

Have done a bit of work on the harley...

painted the exhaust using Alclad

painted the replacement resin seat

and doing some repairs on the frame

Now I just have remember what the hell colour I started painting this in. Close to Tamiya Olive Green, but looks slightly different. That could be due to age.

Well...this is embarrassing. I didn't finish the unfinished business 2018 campaign so this is a lifeline. Maybe with 330 days left I can get it finished. The kit is a Dragon Panther F in 1/35th.

Howdy Y'all

I planned to finish my Tamiya 1/48 KV-II but I'll need to do a switch. It doesn't fit in my club's contest schedule this year. I still want to finish it but I'm going to work on a 1/72 Dragon Elephant.

Our club is having an "Enter the Dragon" contest. I almost completed this kit but messed up the tracks and lost the decals and the spare tracks on the front hull. I found another Dragon Elephant at a swap meet this weekend so I'll rob the tracks from that kit.

Take care,
Don "Lakota"

so here is my hopeful entry Monograms ancient M48A2 Patton tank. Original started for the Build a Dog campaign a few years ago and ya its a Dog, bad fit some of the worst plastic I've seen. Only saving grace for the kit is that from my understanding its one of the only readily available A2 Patton models. Just not an enjoyable build, but I need to get it done to clear up some space in the stash. here's hoping i finish it without throwing up my hands again

Ah, the joys of an old kit. Ill-fitting parts, sink holes, ejection pin marks, flash all over(even when the molds were new!). I am currently building a Frog Heinkel 111 and a Hasegawa Akagi. My workbench is covered with bits of Squadron Green Putty. Good luck!

:)

Nothing is more fun than resurrecting old lost and forgotten dog builds. I like the occasional challenge of turning a sow's ear into a silk purse. I have a group of about 10 of them, all between 15 and 30 years old.

After getting back into the hobby in 2017, I built like crazy and started 2019 with a whopping 36 builds in-work! My goal for 2019 is to burn that list down by at least half. I've completed two as of Feb-4, with #34 on the bench right now about to start weathering. I should be done with that one by Saturday afternoon.

so quick question for those with more knowledge then me on the gun mantel did the M48a2 have 2 machine guns? or only 1? I know the top set of nubs are supposed to be U rings i'm pretty sure the larger of the 2nd set is a .50cal but the one next to it no so sure, .30cal?

Just a guess, but I think the crew layout has the gunner in front of the commander. If so, that makes the right opening is for the gunner's telescopic sight. The loader is usually in charge of loading the co-axial machine gun so it should be on his side of the turret.
