Tamiya 1:35 Austin Tilly - arrived with (2) two engine compartment batteries.

Q: for a vehicle this light, why would there be a need for two?

I assume the weight could be replaced with supplies.

thanks.

ps: any reference links gratefully appreciated.

The Tilly was based on civilian cars with single 6 volt batteries. Military cars had two 6 volt batteries so they would have military standard 12 volt electrical systems.
Austin Tilly Manual
Section T page 18 has details on the batteries.

I don't know. It's an old military manual posted on a website in the Netherlands. I found it when I searched for "tilly battery power". I am not a copyright expert but I feel that no one is going to lose out if you repost it.

Is that really the link you intended posting?
It goes to a page on Amazon selling the movie "Miss Tulip stays the night" or something similar.

yes; goofy movie but for its genre garnered a 5 star recommendation. after a puncture on an MG roadster, the couple was given an assist by a chap with a war torn Tilly sporting a tin back instead of canvas & hoops. the river crossing & aggressive, perhaps spirited, handling of a 10 hp vehicle with 3 aboard made me chuckle.

as they say: "hilarity ensues"
