Fahr'n wir ohne Wiederkehr

Breaking into the suburban area of Stalingrad with this diorama, a Stug III/F and some infantry realized the fighting is getting harder every meter towards the centre. The StuG III / F is a rather old Dragon - kit pimped with Friul’s, ABER photo etched parts, an RB-barrel, a scratched baggage-rail and some parts pulled out of the rest-box. The truck is the Zvezda model of the Zis-5B and on which I have replaced almost every "wood-like" part with you guessed it wood. The figures are MasterBox, Tamiya with Hornet-heads. The pole and the Maxim is from Plus model, the building is scratch built from Styrofoam. The title of this Diorama is taken from a soldier-song of that time: 'Fahr'n wir ohne Wiederkehr' which translates as 'going further knowing not to come back home'.

Well done Steffen! Your scene is so packed that it is hard to pick something out. So, high praise from me for scratching the building and doing so very well. Claude

There's a tense feeling to this scene, as if we had come just as the last echoes of the firefight died away. The Zis is one the finest recreations of a scorched vehicle I've ever seen. Well designed and beautifully executed!!!
