On Track Military Model Show 2017
The seventh On Track Military Model Show took place at its usual seaside home on 25 February 2017.
The competition room at the Leas Cliff Hall has windows all the way around two sides, but it was a little darker than last year due to the overcast sky, and outside a strong wind was blowing along the Leas.
Rob Henden captured the Best In Show for the second year running with his rendition of the Montgomery bust by Life Miniatures. While the overall number of entries seemed healthy enough, something of a disappointment was that Class 2 for 1/48 and over scratch built and converted military vehicles contained just one entry; it was however a great piece of work. In contrast it seemed to me that the aircraft numbers were up on previous years, although that could be due to the amount of space some of them occupy on the table…
The main hall appeared to be as full as usual with traders, and the stall I visited for supplies seemed to be doing a brisk trade in modelling consumables. Elsewhere there were plenty of club displays from MAFVA branches, as well as the usual children’s make and take area which this year was sponsored and supplied by Armourfast.
Apologies for some of the photos not being the greatest, it was made a little harder with the lower light levels, and I am only hand holding the camera; the show themselves publish their own photos of the event if you wish to check those out (search On Track Show), but I thought I’d give you a flavour of it here.
Next year’s show is scheduled for the 24th February 2018.

Have always dabbled in painting and making things, and rediscovered doing that with plastic in 2008. Vowed then to complete the 30 year old stash...
