introduction

NKVD means The People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs. It was a law enforcement agency of the Soviet Union that directly executed the rule of power of the All Union Communist Party. It was closely associated with the Soviet secret police, which at times was part of the agency, and is known for its political repression during the era of Joseph Stalin.

During World War II, NKVD Internal Troops units were used for rear area security, including preventing the retreat of Soviet Union army divisions. Though mainly intended for internal security, NKVD divisions were sometimes used at the front.

B6-35113 represents a World War II NKVD - Narodnyy Komissariat Vnutrennikh Del – State Security Major in standing pose. Figure is recommended to use together with Zvezda 3634 GaZ-M1 Soviet car.
packing & casting

Figure comes in brown cardboard box labeled with a photo of the assembled and painted figure. Body and other parts are inserted seperately into two small plastic zip-lock bags.

Casting quality is good. Details are crisp and there are no mistakes on samples. Seamlines on arms and slightly visible lines on sides of overcoat will need to be cleaned.
figure

Figure is sculpted in 1/35 scale and cast in grey resin. It comes in 4 pieces; head, body and two arms. Head shows nice facial details and a great alikeness to Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Kit includes an alternative head wearing Soviet NKVD Officer's dark blue visor hat. This hat was entered in use in 1935 for NKVD Officers and applied untill 1953. It has a strap, buttons and a soviet red star badge.

He wears a NKVD Dark grey overcoat. Cloth folds, buttons, flap closure on right shoulder and collar ranks are well defined. A Potrupeya - Soviet officers leather belt with shoulder strap is cast on the figure and a TT pistol in leather holster is attached to the right side. As for the footgear, he has black leather Soviet Army Officer boots.

Arms are posed to wear glove to his left hand as holding other glove on the right hand. Cloth folds on arms, straps on sleeves and insignia on th left shoulder are well defined.

  • A NKVD visor cap is supplied to display next to the figure.

  • Note that BRAVO-6 has also released Winter version of the same figure as B6-35114 wearing Overcoat with fur collar and Finka - Finnish style fur cap.
    conclusion

Another nice figure from BRAVO-6 for World War II Soviet unit modelers and unique to display next to a GaZ-M1. Alikeness to Russian Leader makes it more interesting.
