Rado Miniatures, producer of high quality World War II figures, lately released a series of photoetched insignia sets for German Army.

First PE set RDM-35PE01 includes 1/35 scale insignia for W-SS German soldiers.

Set comes inside a clear plastic clamshell container and PE fret is secured with a black sponge.

There is a very useful how-to-use paper sheet showing German SS units officer and soldier insignia and ranks.

PE fret includes;
  • Rank collar patches
  • Shoulder tabs
  • Collar runes
  • Camouflage blouse sleeve rank tabs
  • Cap insignia
  • Officer and soldier type belt buckles
  • National sleeve shields for foreign volunteers

    It includes a wide range of ranks from SS-Schütze to SS-Obersturmbannführer.

    For maximum detail separate shoulder tab buttons are provided.

    Collar runes for 3.SS-Pz.Div., 7.SS-Gebrigs.Div, 11.SS-Pz.Gren.Div., 19.SS-Pz.Gren.Div. and 20.SS-Pz.Gren.Div. are included.

    these are useful, and while not as easy as decals, somehow their thickness makes them seem more real to me.

    They'd be even nicer if they were self coloured. There is still some rather finicky painting to be done (e.g. silver cord around officers collar badges; waffenfarbe on shoulder straps).
