About Careos
I was introduced to models when I was 8 or 9 by both my uncle and my dad. My dad was a military modeler, mainly doing 1/72 warbirds while my uncle tended towards 1/24 automotive. I spent many of days at the kitchen table building with my uncle and watching my father. I didn't model again until I met my wife in 2001, frustrated with my lack of ability, I essentially put down the hobby again for several years. In 2005 I tried again with limited success as well. I ended up with half built kits that I could not get seams to fit, paint to lay right or anything else. It was very annoying to say the least. In the interm, I began painting gaming miniatures of different scales and genres. American Old West, Warhammer 40K and Star Trek were the most popular of the three. I am coming off a pretty heavy period of doing Warhammer 40K miniatures, but I could not get my tanks to look the way they they should. I came back to Armorama to get some inspiration and found myself working on armor, aircraft and automotive once again. I had a huge fear of messing up the 30.00 and 40.00 kits I had, but got frustrated easily with the 10.00 kits due to all of the sanding and filling required. I decided to drop the perfectionist approach and have fun and learn. It has paid off, to date I have finished off several kits that I had thrown in a pile to never be built and have joined several campaigns to give me a goal. Hopefully I will not get frustrated and my results will improve with each model I complete.
