About furiousgenius
I am a retired FDNY firefighter, formerly a pilot with Marine Co. 8 (The Gov. Al Smith). I'm married with no children (yey!) but the dog, two cats and bird can be almost as much trouble. I have been a modeler/hobbiest for about 45 years, since I was five and built my first plastic airplane kit. That first one was mostly glue but I didn't let that dissuade me and kept on building. My favorite subjects are 1:35 armor and 1:32 aircraft (particularly bi-planes of WWI, 1920's and 1930's), but I'll put together anything that sparks my interest including cars, planes, boats/ships, trains, and spacecraft (real and fictional). I scatchbuild armor and spacecraft. I like to use parts of existing models & plastic, metal, wood junk from around the house ("parts is parts" is a saying in my house). Painting 54mm metal or plastic miniatures has also been a favorite hobby for many years. I've also built dioramas for some of my models. Over the past six years I've gotten into collecting and bashing 1:6 (12" tall) military action figures (come on, "dolls"). I use existing parts when I can, but I have created uniforms and accessories for them when necessary. I like to target shoot, and fish.
