How did you attach the rear view mirrors? It looks like you used solder for a lot of the turret construction and I see you removed the paint in order to get a good adhesion for the mirror frames to the turret walls, are they attached with cyano type glue?
If you had to do this all over again would you use solder to construct the turret? What advise would give someone just starting this project if you were to do some things differently?
What did you use to get that nice even coating of green on the turret ballistic glass windows?
Lots of questions I know but I have my M1151 sitting on my work bench calling out to me. You've helped a lot of people that are going to be building their own model and for that thankyou.
Sure ! what a bunch of questions. I try toanswer at all if necessary ask me again.
For the turret, today I will make this :
-rework the base ring to get it more correct (thinner and a small ring between turet & roof) Chris have nice pics for this
-then contruct the wall as I've made. I use soldering for all the windows parts and rear and side wall, glue them on the turret ring. The window are not totaly bend the little outer parts not bend so you can add the glass at the end; But for this you must make a good (resistant) soldering job.
-put the detail in the turret
-first painting coat.
- the mirrors a built separatly a U with a bar and a base made with PE. all are solder (I dont know if I good speak/write). I make a little build diary for this. Then I glue them with Cyanocrylate not liquid but gel in french (paste?)
-Now the window. I use the part that are coming with the kit. I paint the total piece with Tamiya transparent colour green with thinner (make some test before), cut the windows to the right size put tem in the hole and bend the little piece of metal, no glue.
More easy to write than to make
For PE assembly, I use most part of time (always) soldering it's the better and more resistant methode.
But that need some experience.
