As a child I was lucky enough to live within a few miles of the Bovington Tank museum. I always pestered my parents to take me there - back then (longer ago than I care to mention) one could climb upon all sorts of cool vehicles.

One of my favourites was the Sherman Crab - how cool is a flail exploding mines as it goes!

I'd now love to build a 1/72 model of a Crab. Has anyone here done so? If so what reference photos/drawing etc did you use?

I have the Osprey book on the Crab - but it's actually quite poor - most of it deals with proto Scorpions and the like.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Airfix has a recent re-issue of their very old Sherman with the Crab convertion (in plastic):

I will not make comments about its quaility but do remember that the Airfix Sherman was released quite some decades ago.

Thanks all for the replies.

I've seen the 1/76th stuff. Also I bought the Airfix one to have a look. It's very basic and lacking detail - but will give some assistance in scratchbuilding one

The drawings could be useful. I believe he'll also send them as 1/72 which will save me the bother of re-scaling them
