Two new, 1/35th scale Diorama Bases have been announced by Masterpiece Models. In addition, there''s a third release, (in 1/12th scale) which is difficult to categorize! The full report can be seen:

I like the Japanese bunker module. Good thing for a South Pacific dio.

Jon does some nice stuff - I wonder if he did the factory base as well.

Nice work on the box-art of the bomb, Rick

I was going to say the factory looked like your painting style, but I wasn't 100% certain. Wow - King Bob's still doing patterns? That's awesome.

p.s. did you get my mail via pA a few weeks ago re. the Flak frame?

Rick - that's Bob's factory! Nice. Great to hear Bob is still producing masters.

The whole lot is really nice.

I think the boiler room was first produced as a Stalingrad ruin for Custom Dioramics.
That Pacific bunker base is nice. Might need to get me one.

It is an old Custom Dioramics mold, as I have one sitting here in a CD box. Nice to see these seeing the light of day again!!

I definitely like the diorama bases made by Masterpiece Models, not only the alrteady exisitng ones but also those, which are planned to be issued in the future (according to information received from Mr. John Geigle they're planning to issue the whole 7000s range from Custom Dioramics - including such items as 7005 Train Station Platform). The only problem is (at least here in Europe, that they do request minimum 70 bucks postage cost for 30 bucks items. It's incredible. Any information on availability in Europe would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Imre

It is. Obviously, the market outside Europe is completely unnecessary for some manufacturers. Presumably they sell so much in ConUS that the outside world is irrelevant?

You've told us how much it costs to post the item but not which item it is. Some of the items are between 2.5 - 3 kgs. Nor have you mentioned the type of postal service.

Posting those weights internationally from anywhere is expensive, for example if I were to send an item between 2.5 and 3 kg via international airmail to you from Australia to Hungary it would cost between $85 and $100 using AustraliaPost (depending on the type of air service). Australia - South Africa (a regular postal destination for me), same prices. More within our trade circle? Okay, Australia to Hong Kong, $60 - $80 (even sending a 0.5kg parcel to HKG will cost between $20-60). See where I'm going with this?

If you're buying a heavy kit, be it actual or even dimensional weight, you should expect to pay more for postage. If not directly to the foreign seller, then to your local reseller who will certainly include that in their sales margins.
