I was wondering if the Staghounds of the Canadian 12th Manitoba Dragons mounted the M1919A4 .30 cal mg on the turret pintle mount. All the pics I have seen do not show one. Also was it comon for them to have the US recognition star on the engine deck.
Thanks in advance

Hi Joseph

I mounted one on mine. Here's one of the pictures I used as a reference for my 12th Manitoba's Staghound.

And the website it came from

http://mailer.fsu.edu/~akirk/tanks/can/Canada.htm

I don't know what the common practice was, but it certainly did happen as evidenced above. A possible explanation is that Canadian military censors were quite picky so it's possible the only 'commonly available' pictures didn't have it shown as mounted, but photo evidence is photo evidence.

As for the US stars, I'm not sure on that. Armoured Acorn has some great PDF's in their references section for Canadian vehicle markings. You can see it here: http://www.armouredacorn.com/cvm.html.

Good luck with your project and post some photos when you can.

cheers;
Bob
