Hey Guys,

As some of you might have noticed I'm working on a diorama of a PZH2000NL in Afghanistan. I'm about 90% done with the gun. So I've started collecting intell on how to make a base for the gun.
The general idea is to put it in a dugin firing position. But I'm quite clueless on where to start and wich materials are best to use. I do have bought a couple of plates of styropur as I've noticed most of the modellers around here use that as their base for a dio. I do have a couple of photo's what I wish to have it look like:

So this is what I like to know:

1 Wich materials are best to use on the base
2 How do I apply these materials at best
3 How and with what paints/pigments etc etc do I need to color and wash the base

Ofcourse all suggestions to make things look even better are very welcome.

I do allready have some gravel and stucco patch in house.

Cheers Remi

I've seen nice things done with Magicsculpt, cat litter, sidewalk gutter dirt, sand, etc, etc. You can use just about anything. A popular new diorama book is the, "Let's Build A Diorama! pt.II" you can find on the site here for about $25 and has lots of good ideas for using common/cheap materials.

Anything natural is fair game. As for attaching to base, you could paint white glue and water everywhere and sprinkle with sand etc, seal with hairspray.
