Dear friends,

After end of WWII, did US use army trucks like studbakers and gmc in civilian colors. I am asking for pictures...I was hoping to convert some 1/72 studebaker for peacetime HO train layout.

Btw, has anyone used or seen 1/72 or 1/75 kits like airfix used for HO train layouts? Is the difference very noticeable?

Thanks
Cheers

Hi Kiong

All I know is that surplus Studebakers were used in Australia, like this fire truck :

I guess it should have been possible in the US as well...

Here are some in Alaska waiting for better days :

IMHO, the size difference between a 1/72-1/76 truck and a 1/87 (HO) one is quite noticeable...

Here are 2 pics I've found showing 3 diecast Lamborghinis side by side (in poor shape...). The one on the left is in 1/87th scale, the one in the middle is in 1/72nd scale and the last one is in 1/64th scale :

Hi Frenchy,

You are right about the sizes...I guess I will have to look for cheap 1/87 trucks in the dollar toy shop and do some improvements on them.

Perhaps use one or two studebakers in the foreground and smaller items in HO and N in the background to create perspective If am adventurous.

Thanks man.

Cheers

Why not use ROCO trucks? They are of proper scale just paint them.
