Anyone interested in a JEEP Campaign Group Build?

I was surfing through the DRAGON website and came upon this FINE MOLDS JEEP http://www.dragonusaonline.com/multipic_main.asp?pid=FINFM35

and thought this not only is a nice looking kit, but when was the last time a JEEP Campaign had been purposed. I know the Land Rover Campaign is about to finish up, but this is all about AMERICAN JEEPS!!! Okay, we can throw in the MUTT for good measure but as Fall starts to approach, soon it will be winter and what doesn't look good in a small dio (not expected nor a necessity) than a Battle of the Bulge JEEP?

Please, chime in with your ideas and comments! Time frame to be decided but I believe a JEEP will not take too long so what about a short 6 months to complete? What about a wintertime build? Start maybe in a few months, perfect for those who need a small break from that difficult armor build?

This idea is so obvious and yet, I don't remember seeing one here yet. I had a civilian snowplow jeep project on the backburner. I would be up for this one. I can imagine a huge variety of jeep models to match the variety of places and purposes it served.

Sal, staff cars and Kubelwagens are not JEEPS. You could say most of all these Campaigns are eerily similar... just like the Tank Destroyers and StuG campaigns and even the Marder and 38(t) are very close too.

Besides, if that won't fly (was proposed on 8-18) then it's not meant to be so let the JEEP idea have a chance. It's an American Icon!!!

Thanks for your opinion but don't be a dream squashier! We shall press on without you then.

The first one is not a JEEP... it's Russian. The rules will be that it must be American made.

I want to get feedback on an All American JEEP Campaign, then if we see the numbers are failing (and I cannot see why with the amount of JEEP kits that are out there) then we might open it up to other vehicles like that.

It's up to you guys what you want! A variety of multinational JEEP vehicles or an All American JEEP Campaign? This does mean civilian vehicles too, not just war time applications.

What you say guys? I know it's a Holiday, so we'll give it a few weeks.

I've been in a slump lately, so a Jeep campaign might be just what I need. I have a vignette planned for my grandfather that features a Jeep. You can count me in.

I'm not sure the Type 73 that inspired the campaign would count. I think it's a Mitsubishi design.

Hi Sal, thanks for the support! As Jeff says, though, the Cars campaign will fly or not based on its own fate, so I'm not in the least upset by by this Jeep one. In fact, if I had one in the pipe I'd sign up - I don't at the moment, but there's still time.

As for the "All American" bit, that rules out the Type 73 and the Heller 1/35 Jeep, because the Heller kit is actually based on the French license-built Hotchkiss 201! Many of the "Jeeps" seen in military vehicle shows around Europe are actually Hotchkisses because they were in production long after the war-time Jeeps rusted away...

I'm not defending myself but the Type 73 INSPIRED the whole JEEP Idea of a Campaign and of course is not included in the "All American Jeep" Campaign. If you had read the beginning of my thread.

But at this point I really don't want to get too picky and will just give in and include ALL JEEPs so it will end the rivet counting spectacle.

Hope that will satisfy the surfers and non-contributors.

Tom, Thanks for the heads up. I was looking at the Heller kit because its the only kit I saw with the canvas roof, but I could not find a review for it
guess If this get a rollen I'll go with some type of Willy Jeep

Hi Jeff, I was only bustin' your chops! No harm intended.

I'm sure I can scare up a Jeep by kick-off, so count me in! (But I might sneak a Hotchkiss by you - they really are almost exact clones... )

hello, SAL if you want a jeep with a tarpaulin, there is the old italeri kit ref 314 which is much fine and detailed the heller kit (in my humble opinion).

A lot of opinions going around here. Let me through this out there too...
Which kits have license to Jeep's trademark 7-bar grill? Haven't recent kits come with missing bars and the like to circumvent paying royalties?
thanks,

Huh, what? You mean you weren't serious about what you said here? Why would you do that?

And Sal, what do you mean "join forces" and showing support for Tom? I showed interest in his "car game show" campaign, or whatever the heck it's called. I can't help it's not showing much interest, but I gave mine.

And I won't wait around to see if one Campaign will work or another one will... and I am sorry for you guys if a Japanese JEEP image gave me an idea for an American JEEP Campaign. Like I said, let's include all JEEPs just to make you happy and so that there's no confusion.

As far as I'm concerned, make up your own rules too!!!
