Hello to all you collectors of plastic kits,
here´s a suggestion that might sound alarming to some of you , but what the hell.
How about a campaign similar to "get r done", but this will
be "get r built". Here´s what I´ve got in mind, all those kits laying around, that don´t get built because the "next Gen" has overtaken them or they were simply forgotten. Here´s some of mine:
Academy-ground vehicles set 1999
Academy-M18 1999
Tamiya StuG III 1995
Dragon-Panther Befehlswagen 1997
Tamiya-Bren carrier 1994
Tamiya-SAS jeep 1974
Tamiya-Chevy 1976
Italeri-Hetzer 1980

Get the idea
Well I plan this as a short campaign, because I´d like to see the following:
Older than the year 2000
Out of the box, absolutley no aftermarket additons to the kit. An AM figure is ok.
Conversions will be accepted, but only if there was no plastic kit of this conversion before the said year. And
the Conversion is also older than 2000

So, what d´ya all think

Sound like a good idea. This is exactly what Im doing at the moment. Im battling the old Max/Testors/Italeri/Zvezda White Scout car BECAUSE Hobby Boss has produced a new one and the old one may never get build if I dont do it now. But to be honest I dont think excluding AM stuff is a good idea since I tend to add a lot of stovage to my kits lately.

Hello Naseby,
well the idea is to show what the kits were like then, in comparison with what we have nowadays. You can add a tone of stowage if you wish, what I don´t want to see is this:
AM tracks
AM gun barrels
AM Etch
Am Resin cupolas/ exhausts / road wheels

What I would allow is this example:
Academy M48 Patton with an AEF Designs IDF Magach 7 conversion.
This completly fits the ruling I stated at the start.
I could allow the use of etch if you already have it, but I don´t want people running out and buying the stuff. I suppose it´s all going to be down to honesty, because how am I going to prove otherwise.

@Sal: hi there, like I just said, if you already the etch
then OK. But we gotta wait awhile yet anyway, nobody knows
if this´ll catch on.

Depending on time frame I might be in for this. I think I have at least a couple of 90's Tamiya kits in the stash. Will you also take partially started kits?

Hi there,
well considering the lack of AM stuff and the age of the kits, I would like to suggest 3 months. What about 1st
of Feb to 30th April?
This is only a suggestion, there´s quite a few campaigns going down in the first 1/4 of next year, so you guys can choose between you. Anyhow there´s already a couple of rocket fuel drinking speed builders on here (they know who they are) , for them I think 3 weeks would be enough

@ Zon: Well I don´t want to cheat the Get R Done Campaign out of a member but just how far on is your started kit?

Paul: I have several in various stages, as well as a couple not started, so I'll stick to the unstarted ones for this campaign. The Feb. start should work for me too.

yeah, i'd give this campaign a go

Hi Vance, "give it a go" that doesn´t sound very enthusiastic . It should be something more like "Yeh dude, I´ve been waiting for this" Well it just shows
you can´t have everything

I´ll just have a count then:
1. M.Douglas
2. Sal
3. Naseby
4. Zon
5. Steph
6. Vance (who needs a little encouraging )
7. and I
Not enough yet!
Well here´s some rules, maybe if others read this, they´ll then join in:
1, Kit must have been produced before the year 2000.
2. After Market items are only to be used if you already
have these in your stash. Please do not run out and buy
new stuff. I appeal to you and your honesty on this rule.
3. Conversions are only allowed if these are themselves
older than the year 2000. There must also have been no
plastic kit on the market up to the said year.
4. Any scale
5. Kit must be unstarted, if not post a picture of the
progress and we´ll see from there.
6. Have fun

Well now lets just wait and see

Yup!
I have these -

Also have a pair of Tamiya 1/48 Ki84 Hayate Franks

An Academy 1/72 Cessna A37 Dragonfly. I see there's an Eduard PE set for that dated 1999 going for a couple of quid on ebay.

Plus a few other things in the attic!

Very cool Pete. I built both those kits back in the day. I do have the Tamiya Sdkfz 223 in my stash. The kit I was thinking of though, was a Stuka in 1/72 from Frog. I think it has a date on the box of 1970. I'll try to post some pics here tomorrow.
Cheers

Ah, sorry - didn't read properly - no PE unless already owned. I really don't think I could handle it in 1/72 anyway!!
