Tom

Nice project......If you need any help with your build shoot me a PM.
If you plan to mount the rollers you will need to scratch build the mount adapter to the front of the hull.

Cheers

The Leo 2 mine roller adapter frame is included in the PSM mine roller kit.

What Tom will have to do is essentially cut away the glacis plate on the Black Dog conversion that is covered with Barracuda and use the conversion part in the PSM kit to create an uncovered glacis plate portion for fitting the adapter frame and the roller bra properly.

Yeah, I took a peek in the PSM kit, and I know I will be doing some work in the glacis plate area.

Progress so far. I got the anti skid surfaces done. Canadian Tire special. And I got the new glacis plate for the mine roller on now. It was a little painful to cut into such a beautiful kit. That's it for now.

Cheers,
Tom

Okay so far I now got the following for this kit. Let's do the math.

Hobby Boss Leopard Tank $30
PSM Mine roller $40
Blackdog Barracuda Kit $98
Tankograd Book $20
Echelon decals $10
SKP lenses $20
Real Model Figures $15

Total of $233..

Yup, the wife is going to kill me. Haha... if I don't post anymore, please understand. Hahaha.

Working on the turret while the two parts of the hull dry.
I went out and bought some chain. I put them on the smoke dis-chargers. Very intense but pleasing results at the end.

As for the glass pieces, I used confetti from my local crafts store. Glue them on to the photo etched pieces. And after, I will mask them before painting. I honestly have sat down over and over again. Looked over different pictures, and basically said screw it. I'm going with the blue colour.

Any points folks?

Cheers,
Tom

Hey folks,
so far so good. The only thing I can really say is the PSM roller kit I had an issue. It was about the roller itself. Removing the tabs on it causes a gaping holes in one or two of them. I just fill them up with Vallejo plastic putty. As for the arm mounts for the kit, you need to add a 45 degree support inside of the mount for the Canadian version. And also adding a (L) and (R) on the mine roller arms. If you are planning on doing this version, I got some extra L & R letters I got. I can mail them to you if you are in North America side.

Now to Black Dog kit. If you own a Dremel, you are in luck. You will be using that bad boy a lot to cut and sand this kit. I had minor issue with the turret fitting on the hull. So a bit of sanding and swearing, I got it to fit. And for the upper hull and lower hull, I had a trouble time. But for me, the more time spent working on it, the better for me. Keeps me busy. I had to re sand the back part of the hull over and over again. The rear sprocket wheel was in the way for a correct bond. So I went back and forth with the Dremel and a few cigarettes later, I got it to mount correctly. Add some CA Think glue, add some F Clamps and Bob is your uncle!

My next plan is to paint the turret, then put on the slate armor. I had this kit before, and I found painting the tank with the stale armor on was a pain in the butt. Even if you want to paint some details on. Too bad my youngest son got a hold of it and recreated the Battle of Kursk with all my Panzers. Didn't matter what era they were. He he he. I own a glass case now because of this. At least he didn't call in for air strike, then I would been in real trouble.

Turret primed and painted. After I got the base coat, I was like D'Oh! Forgot something. Can you take a guess? He he he.

Here is an update. Working on the slate Armour. Going to paint it up prior to mounting it on. I've test fitted numerous times. I an also added a floor to the rear turret slate armour. A lot of these cats use them as extra storage. I think it will look cool once it's done.

Cheers,
Tom
