Edging gatorfoam?

I'm building my first diorama base using gatorfoam... well, the first diorama I'm doing where I build it off the base, then transfer the whole thing to the wooden base. I read that people edge the base with strip styrene or wood to hide the funky edges of the materials.

I'm not sure what glue to use though... wood to gatorfoam? What would you use?

I use wood filler, can get it in big tubs at home depot and its pretty cheap. basically its like white glue with particulate? I use it like cake icing, use a plastic putty knife to smooth it out ( with water)
once its dry its sand-able for a nice finish. then paint...

To update this thread - I used standard wood glue to affix cherry strips to the edges of a test piece of gator foam. Seems to have worked like a champ!
