I've been looking at photos of the CIP Panels mounted to the equipment at CMTC Grafenwöhr and it appears that its more of a brownish color then the typical Sand or NATO green that they are normally found in.

Anyone have any more info?

The brown has been around for quite a while. Typically the panel's color should match the background color on the vehicle, but even so, I've never seen a black one, and the "rule" if you want to call it that rarely is followed. Thankfully for us, as it makes for a more interesting model. Here's a brown one from Iraq in '07:

Rob,

Any ideas on what color would be a good match? It almost looks like the Coyote Brown the USMC uses.

Hi Scott,
judging from the pics of Combined Resolve II exercise, I would go for a mixture of Tamiya XF 57 Buff and XF-52 Dark Earth.

They look like a pretty close match to Testors Model Master Field Drab to me.

It looks in the pic like they used it for a BBQ grill or something, you can see through the slats that the dark brown/rust color has dripped onto the underside of the otherwise sand panel.

I'd think these come from factory in NATO green, otherwise are painted one of the other CARC NATO colors ( brown or black) if the vehicle is painted with them installed. I'm not sure if they are even supposed to be painted as they are supposed to reflect or emit a signature in order to identify friend or foe.

I'm at work right now and pics are blocked, but if you google the latest M1's in Germany and Korea, they all have the brown colored panels, so I think they are coming from the factory like that

It´s a kind of medium brown, approx. Tamiya XF-52 Flat Earth.

Thanks. Seems Australian ones are the darker colour.
