I have so far built the trumpeter m1078 armored as a loose representation of the trucks we used in Iraq and now am working on the m1083. the actual one we used as our gun trucks were m1088's and I have been trying to pieces together a way to convert but hit nothing but dead ends. so curious if any one has or has plans to do so and point me in the right direction?

Are you sure your gun truck was an M1088? The M1088 is a 5-ton tractor unit.

If so, there are a couple resin tractor conversion sets out there that you could probably use for it. Hobby Fan has one for an M54 tractor conversion and Real Model has one for an M932 tractor conversion. You could also get one of the snap-fit 1/32 tractor kits and use the 5th wheel and other parts from it.

Here is an M932A2 tractor I did using parts from a 1/32 truck model and some sheet styrene.

Sorry, Hobby Fan's is an M52 Tractor, not an M54 (5T Cargo Truck).

By the way, what unit were you? I was in 3 ID (A Battery, 1-39 FA (MLRS)) during the invasion. We stopped a few times along the route at 5K fuelers on the side of the road.

Gino, I hate to say your wrong, but I could be wrong as well.
I don't think the back of a M1088 is the same as the M52/M925 series.

No it is not. I didn't mean to use the whole rear section of either. What I meant to imply was to use the fifth wheel and any other parts that may be interchangeable. The rest will have to be scratch-built.
