I wonder how many would want a plastic kit of the Sentinel Tank - an accurate kit of one of the prototypes (they were all different in detail), a "production" version or the proposed 17pdr version ??

Maybe a kit of the Aussie 4x4 Rhino Heavy Armoured-car - or its proposed 6x6 vesion ??

Considering inquiring on costs & quantities of one of the limited-run / vacform manufacturers.

I would dearly love one, An AC3 would be great but I would cheerfully build an AC1 as well. I've tried for years to score a Cromwell one but to no avail.

Got a Cromwell kit, but would happily buy an AC1 kit. Always wanted one. Probably buy a couple more to make an AC3 and the twin 25 pdr test vehicle.

As an Aussie, yes please, if you are going to go that path let me know, I have a copy of a photo album put together showing its production.

If you decide to proceed with this, I do have several photos of the Bovinton Sentinel I can send along. I focused on the running gear for a future scratchbuild.

I'll make the enquiry anyhow. You could use some existing parts like after-market plastic tracks. For some strange reason most manufacturers don't use the most intelligent methods of molding some parts (tracks are a personal bug-bear of mine).

Jon -- I look forward to seeing your one .... if the price is more reasonable than Cromwells which (beautiful as it is) costs AU$150 + hefty postage from Scotland !!

Anyone know of a decent book on the Sentinel types ??
There is this pamphlet (no copies found anywhere)...
The AC 1 Sentinel Battle Tank by Raymond Deeb, Wizards Military Publications.

If there is one I have yet to find it. David Fletcher had a 4 page article in CMV magazine a couple of years ago that is about all that is really out there recently. I'd be thrilled if someone did a book like the recent Ram tank book but so far nada.

Hi Guys,

Here's some more of the source materials for this kit:

http://www.mheaust.com.au/Aust/Research/Sentinel/sentinelmk.htm

http://www.mheaust.com.au/Aust/Research/Sentinel/sentinelab.htm

http://www.awm.gov.au/search/all/?query=sentinel+tank&op=Search&submit=&relatedFilter=related_events&filter[type]=Photograph§ion[0]=collections&format=list

The kit will need the T51 track from your favorite track maker (Bronco, AFV Club, etc.). Got to make new molds for another old kit, and then this is next...

Hi Jon!

Just for curiosities sake... what kind of money will this cost?

It DOES look good!

An AC1 will be great but I would be happy if you might follow up with an AC3.

Right now, we're looking at $129.95 as an MSRP.

One thing that did occur to me is that based on what little is out there I'm uncertain if the AC4 design was ever finalized? Again, the Sentinel is kind of a gaping hole when it comes to references.

Yes, the AC4 wasn't finalized. Some of the hulls were very crudely "finished" (one such was in the private Melbourne museum before it closed).

The article on the MouseHouse page is the most accurate one there is.
Interesting that it mentions an all-metal track similar to the Ram's Canadian Dry-Pin type being planned for the Sentinels -- a model of a tank (circa 1945) with all the "in service" upgrades & field mods would be interesting to do.

Actually, the AC4 looks to maybe have been pretty close to finalization...

My reading is that the prototype was done but the final design was either not locked down or at least it hasn't surfaced yet. Love to be wrong though!

Is there any news of this model yet? I would buy one, if not a few, of them. Always wanted to build a 1:35 AC1, the twin 25pndr test bed and the AC4. My scratch skills were never near what was required to make it happen though.
