I recently got the Trumpeter E100 and have been working on it (slowly) since winter break started and now the spring semester has started progress is even slower. The kit builds beautifully and I've had no issues with it (yet). Thoughts and comments are more than welcome. Also, does anybody know of a good color to use for the lens of the night scope?

Looks really good Trevor. Maybe try transparent orange with a drop of gloss varnish over top of flat red? Should give the right look maybe...but I'm no expert I. High optics.

I painted mine with Semi-gloss black and then clear Red, one or two coats depending on the effect I wanted.

Hi, the barrel should be a dark grey color if you wish to replicate a factory finish, not red oxide primer

Thanks All for the paint suggestions. Considering that the turret was never completed and its under the "what if" section I'm keeping it red. No offense, I just like the look of the primer red barrel.

When you say "night scope" are you intending to assume the normal periscopes, protruding from the roof plate behind the glacis for the driver and bow gunner are night vision enabled?

In actual German set ups, an entire night vision scope was mounted in front of the normal periscope -- the paraphernalia at the time could not be fitted into the size of the normal AFV periscope.

Regardless, the IR enabling or light enhancement had nothing to do with the externally visible lens or lens cover. It would have been inside the vision gear assembly. Use semi-gloss black.

Hi Trevor,
I built this kit plus Tumpeter's other Jagdpanzer E-100 ..both are the same chassis.
I never used the rubber band tracks because they kept breaking the back idler wheel off. You will notice the very weak fit of the back wheels. So, I ordered Trumpeter's single , workable tracks link kits...wow.. they are awesome. These tracks go together nicely & fit perfectly on the E-100.
Here's a pic.

After some research the lens is the converter for white light, which is a very very dark red (not black). So vallejo tail light red with a thin layer of AK Feul stains should work well.
