Howdy,

So I'm trying to figure out whether I should bother with either of these two books for the plans:

Focus No 5 Editions du Barbotin
Tank Power 389 Hotchkiss H35/H39

Trackstory No 6 seems to be out of print. From what I gather, good plans are a little tricky to find. Anyone care to wade into this minefield?

Hi Kimmo

Can't help you with these books, but have you seen these plans ?

From the technical manual :

From M-Hobby magazine :

Sadly the Trackstory books don't have plans. See https://armorama.kitmaker.net/review/4001

Thanks Frenchy, I had seen the first one. I wonder if the Tank Power drawings are based on those? And thanks Gary, I thought that might be the case.

EVERYTHING is suspect! After I found some discrepancies in a Trojka book on Panther tank, I googled dimensions and got at least a half dozen different measurements - just on the hull length. A difference of over 1 foot between the smallest and largest! Apart from actually going to a war museum your(my)self and taking measurements and photos, who are you going to believe?

Well Kubinka and Saumur are roughly equally distant and pretty much out of the question...

Gotta start somewhere though. Bad info is useful if you know what's bad about it.

Hello,

And speaking of books does anyone have a spare copy of Trackstory No.6 Hotchkiss 35/39 by Pascal Danjou?

Regards

Mark

Tank Power 389 Hotchkiss H35/H39

I just bought a copy of this from Alan at Models For Less:

I have both the trumpeter & the Bronco kits and am collecting material in preparation for a build in the near future.

The Tank Power was a bit disappointing to be honest. I did try to reconcile the discrepancies between what plans I could get my hands on, but with no great success. In the end I fixed what I could be bothered to fix and went nuts on the interior with mine.

The Tank Power book has some nice photos and illustrations but best of all - its available now. The only other book I have found is the second volume of the Vanguard French Tanks of WWII.
