If you could be on any tank for a day and get to play with it , which one would it be and why ?Mine would have to be the M-103 because it was the 1st US tank with a 120mm main gun . I think it would be fun to shoot a tank like that , no lazer range finder no night sights no thermal imagers . Just you, your crew your tank and your gunnery skills . Now don't get me wrong I love my M1A1 AIMS it is one kick a$$ tank , but I think it would be cool to see what a step back to the early days of tankin' would be like . ( Maybe I stood behind my tank too long trying to stay warm this weekend and inhaled too much JP-8 fumes ) #:-) . Any way just a thought , So dream away and post what tank you would like to play with .

I'd love to go back on a Leopard 1A2. Also there no fancy things, manual regulations and gunnery skills. That's it!!!

I have been on a tank for a day and did get to play on it. My reenacting unit was invited to an open house at a place near manassas called the Virginia Museum of Military Vehicles, also known as "Tank Farm". There are many different types of tanks there from all eras. Since the unit I belong to (193rd Rifles) is a WWII Russian unit we got to ride on the T-34's like they did in WWII. It was really fun, though the T-34/85 that I was on (Signed by the maker of the Ak-47) did break down it was still alot of fun.

I'm the one 2nd from the right in the middle row (With the PPSH-41)

I'm the one 3rd from the bottom on the right.
If I could ride on any tank though, I think it would be the T-35 heavy tank (Five Turrets!!). Its my favorite tank of all time and its huge!! There is only one in existance that's still intact and that one is in a museum in Russia.

MBT-70 with that funky counter-rotating driver's compartment and all three crewmen in the turret. That would be interesting.

An M1A2 SEP equipped with a Mine Plow (Full Width) or with the Wolverine Dozer Blade.

Then I'm gonna roll down the city streets and give those idiotic drivers a lesson in road manners...a 70-ton lesson.

BT6

PS: Don't think of me as a gun-toting, wantonly-killing lunatic - that's why I specified the countermine device to be mounted on my Abrams.... just wanna sweep 'em jerks off to the side and give a nasty dent, too. :-)

Only one! Sorry I just can't do it. So I'll cheat and pick 2, one WW2, the other from the modern era. For my WW2 tank I'll take a Tiger I, sitting out on the Russian steppes picking off T-34's at 2000 yards. A close 2nd would be a late Panther G. For the modern era it's a tough choice between the M1, Challenger 2, and a Strv 122. I guess I'll be a homer and take the M1. There's something cool about a 70 ton tank doing 45mph and doing it quietly enough to "sneak up" on the enemy.

That's easy. Tiger 1. I can think of a few people who's house I would drive it over to and give them an up close and personal demonstration.

I gotta pick two. For WW2 a Pz111, for modern an M1 Abrams. I got to sit in the commanders seat of an M1 at the Patton Museum during armor week in 1986. Awsome!

Well I'll be slighty different............A British WWII A34 Comet.

I heard a few stories about them.

They had to have the engine regulated to slow them down..........I say take off the regulator and give me a spin

Had it been built, I'd select the Strv2000. It would've been practically unbeatable with its very heavy armor, big gun, equally large co-axial gun, and have quite a good speed.

Second to that, I'd select an Strv122 with the new mine protection gear, or the Leopard 2A6 with the L55 gun and add-on armor like the Strv122 (including the mine protection gear for the hull).

Big gun, strong armor, ain't much of a gas guzzler compared to the turbine powered Abrams, has better fording capability IIRC, and good FCS.

Third would be a Merkava III or IV which I heard has an excellent suspension system - imagine, running on rugged, rocky terrain, at full speed, and have a relatively comfortable and smooth ride in it. Yep, AFAIK the Merkava IV can run at top speed over rugged terrain of the Golan and the crew won't be sent to the hospital for bumps and bruises. :-)

Fourth would be the Challenger - either the I or II. It's big and beautiful.

Then there's that pink T-34/85... #:-)

M1A2 SEP. The look(s) on peoples' faces as I drive around town and into school would be priceless! (Wonder if that CITV has a digital cam built in ) No traffic problems either - just run 'em over! Sure, I don't know how to drive yet, but I don't think that really matters much when you're in a tank... ( for all you REAL tankers out there, I'm kidding #:-) ) Might run out of gas though...

WW2: IS-2M (Punch through a Panther and blow the engine out the back @ 1000 metres, ya gotta love that!)

Modern: M-84 (Yugoslav built version of the T-72).

Ok forgot to add scimitar/scorpian when they still had petrol engines in them before they were fitted with restricters they were very fast Iv'e read a book were to tanks were racing up the motorway in the early 80's and the traffic police pulled them for doing 80mph this was in a book about the falklands as these engines were the same ones fitted to Jaguar cars .speed with a punch enough to knock out those sunday drivers
