Dear all,

Some moments ago I found a message in my Facebook account which stated that our friend Romain has passed away.
He was not able to win the fight against his cancer.
We all certainly will miss his unendless positive comments.

A very decent helpful guy he was and never had a discouraging word to say about his awful disease. He was a fighter and of course,he was a para!
I salute you my friend!!

I guess we all knew this day was coming, but the news are shocking all the same.

You will be missed, my friend.

This is very sad news - I'll miss Romain; I'm sure many will. I learned plenty from him, and enjoyed having him as an inspiring force and a friend.

With his generous words of encouragement and a genuine wish for others to succeed, Romain was truly one of the most kindhearted souls to grace these forums.

"Great show M8!!!"

Really sad news indeed. I didn't know he was ill although I had gathered he was having some difficulties from a few recent posts by others. He struck me as someone who was always there with a kind word and freely gave advice and feedback. He will be missed.

All I knew of Romain was related to his presence on this site. Still, what I recall was his always positive comments which encouraged and inspired others to improve their skills & expand their knowledge of our hobby. Certainly a true gentleman. RIP, Romain.

Paul and others: do you feel a feature of his last great unfinished work would be a suitable epitaph? If so I will get it sorted for you all as soon as I can.

Very, very sad news for the world of modelling and for those who knew Romain on a personal level. I always knew that Romain would give us all the best he had, and would inspire and exhort us to do the same. His presence will be missed greatly.

A sad day indeed.

My thoughts and prayers go out his family and friends. I may not have known him very well or at all. However I know he is smiling down at us and no longer in any pain. We will all see him again on day.

My sincere condolences to Romain's family and friends.

Romain was a great guy. I really enjoyed talking to him in the forums and private messages. A super modeler. I was saddened when I learned he had cancer.

His last PM to me (January) reveals his indomitable and caring spirit:

Unfortunately, the treatment has its side-effects, and life isn't always easy these days!
Nevertheless, I will keep fighting to the end!
My brave wife deserves no less!!

And after all, I've got a diorama to finish!

Cheers my friend!

Romain

Darren, I think yes, your idea is excellent. In addition to offering both tough critique and praise, Romain was a great model builder. He was hustling to try to finish his (and Leo's) epic work; maybe part of the reason he only recently began posting it.

Very good idea -

Nick
