Going to attempt my first build blog of my M4A1 Sherman from Eduard.
I was going to do a review of it first but I checked and Jim Rae had already do a review of the Tasca kit.

For those who are unfamiliar with the kit I shall post some sprue shots.

Box art:

Instruction sheet:

Colour options:

Glacis and turret: I do believe it is the early type glacis

Drive wheels and idler wheels:

Road wheels and bogies:

Main hull bottom:

T48 tracks:

Photo etch:

Decal sheet:

I shall make a start on it tonight, still waiting for a replacement barrel and some stowage to be delivered.

Just finished the construction phase on this myself!! Great fit. Great detail. I wasn't too impressed with the Eduard PE, but i used it where it felt right. I bought the RBModel replacement barrel because the kit one seemed oversized. There's a significant size difference between the two. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts once your new one arrives.

Sounds like I have ordered the same RBModel barrel as you,
75mm L/40.
Also won't be using much of the PE as I hate bending and gluing them

I don't see any brush guards for the headlights on that PE fret. Is there a separate fret? I know Tasca includes those PE parts on some (most? all?) of their other kits.

Not sure whether to have the two drivers hatches open or closed.
might close them but then I might want to include a figure or two.

Thanks for looking
