I’ve never been any good at creating my own mixes for Tamiya paints because I don’t have an “artistic eye,” so I’m trying to assemble a list of Tamiya paint recipes and I was wondering if I could get some input from everyone. I put my own list together from the mixes that I’ve found on Armorama and a few other sites over the years but there is always room for improvement. Please feel free to add or suggest to the list! Here’s what I have so far,

Forrest Green XF-61:2 and XF-65:1
Vietnam USMC XF-74
TS-46 XF-57:3 and XF-60:1
WW2 Olive Drab XF-62:2 and XF-60:1

German

From a guy who travelled a lot through Africa selling military vehicles.

He had one painted in RAL 8000 and another in RAL 8020.

I copy the text from his postings:
"RAL 8000 based on Tamiya paints I did 2 versions:
Muster 10: 4xXF4+2xXF52+1xXF60
or
Muster 21: 4xXF4+2xXF52+1xXF60+1xXF59+1xXF49"

Best regards,
Angel

Mike Starmer spent a lot of time researching British colours and paint mixes to represent them. His findings are widely published on the web. Just Google "Mike Starmer Paint Mixes"

i.e. his set in enamels where he also gives details of when and where the paints were used:
http://www.mafva.net/other%20pages/Starmer%20camo.htm

He also did Tamiya mixes, a list of which can be found on my club's website.

I was trying to mix a Russian green (XB 518) this week for my ZiL-131 and here is what I ended up with:

1 x XF-10 (Brown) : 12 x XF-67 (NATO Green)

This will produce a color that looks roughly like this,

because we all know that Russian green can vary a lot.

Used this for airbrushing today and it came out too green. It looked fine when I was just brushing it though :-( So, take this with a grain of salt...
