Hello all
Long time ago i started build Dragon kit no 6750- T28 Super Heavy Tank. I droped the project after few evening and now, after three years I want to finish it.
I built this vehicle straight from the box untill I saw this walkaround : https://armorama.kitmaker.net/features/5527
When I saw photos I realised how many differences is betwen my model and original vehicle, so I decided improve my model as much as I can.
Except to what was in the box i added:
-photoetched tool strips
-protection for spare track links
-handles and closing the boxes on the side of the hull
-photoetched chains on the bolds , etc.
-tow cable handles on the hull
-hook, tow cable and handles on the back
-headlights cables
-kanister and package
-a few other details

Some details :

I finished assembly and start paint job.
And after primer:

Now, before me are the most difficult stages: painting and weathering.
I hope that with your help everything will go right
Please feel free to write any suggestions and feelings.

Looks like a nice clean build. The only comment I would offer
is the paired tracks from the front appear straight and level but from the rear the outer tracks seem to ride higher. look forward to seeing this beast painted and weathered up.

Thank You, the build went quite easy, except the issues with side tracks. You're right, its hard to fit them together.

I painted my model and I'm glad with the result I reached, hope You like it

NICE WORK!!!

As far as the Suspension and Track assemblies go, I don't think that it's your fault- The Track set-up was one of the things that many modellers who built the T28 kit complained about. It's probably too late now, but care should be taken when building this kit to give this model a "nose-down" appearance, as the REAL T28 was VERY "NOSE-HEAVY" because of it's very thick (and VERY HEAVY) frontal armor. Consequently, the T28 looked like it was going to trip over itself. I had thought of buying one myself, but after reading a lot of negative reviews of this kit, I decided against it. Many modellers took issue with the Suspensions and Tracks in this kit because of the poor and sloppy fit of the parts involved.

Just another classic example of DRAGON/BLACK PLAGUE's disregard for and in-attention to detail when manufacturing models of US/Allied vehicles. DRAGON seems to pay MUCH MORE attention to their WWII German stuff, and as a consequence of that, their WWII German models are much better in quality than many of their US/Allied kits...

I admire you for taking this kit head-on! It's not the easiest model to put together. I personally know several guys who started their DRAGON T28s, and then put them aside in frustration...

Nice looing finish so far. Effective modulation to vary the monotone OD. Good luck.

Whow, looks like Thomas the tank engines been working out... a little too much.

I've never seen a build log about a t-28 super heavy tank, though it looks very interesting. That is a amazing looking model with a nice scheme of colour to it.

Looks great with a coat of paint on it. When you see the hatches you get the sense of how big that thing really was. Nice build.

Hi Matt,

Really good looking model. I think T-28 is fascinating. I want one but have too many other things going on. I look forward to seeing more progress.

I think the same. I saw this model finished on a display and it had the same fit issues in track area like mine.

Good point, but yes, it's too late now to do anything, my fault that previously I didn't pay attention.

I got the same impression , Dragon pays more attention to German panzers models which is not fair.

Thank You. Yes, vehicle has many big areas that I want to diversify to make it more interesting.

Thanks. No i didn't replace tracks, they are straight from the box. Dragon DS tracks are not bad, and I don't need to spend money on two sets of aftermarket tracks

You're right, this model is rare visitor on forums etc but I think ,that vehicle is interesting piece of engineering and
I want to have it in my collection. Thanks for positive feedback.

Thank You. Yes, this vehicle is really big. When you put the figure into hatch, You see how beast it is.

Thank You. Yes, T28 is very original and interesting vehicle, but it's a pity that never take a part in combat. Come on, if You really like this vehicle go on, You find a time to build, I'm sure.

Now, it's time to show some progress. I finished painting, added some highlights, painted details, applied decals and gloss varnish.

Now, it's time to weathering, my favourite part of modelling

Almost done with mine. One thing i noticed in actual pictures, the track fastening jacks would go where the 5 gallon container is.

Funny, the tracks were black coloured in your unpainted shot (DS is Orange coloured)' so I thought they were a differant set,

I like it! So much of a cheaper choice than a resin kit but... if you use the kits tracks.

I stopped on mine too because of them so time to unfold the wallet.

Thanks for sharing the photos, Matt. Great work so far! Looks bad @$$, fat and ugly at the same time. Could join the ugly AFVs campaign.

I painted tracks and suspension before full asembly therefore tracks was black on previous photo

In meantime I started work with oils.

After a while we have something like this:

By the way I finished painting tracks and washed them.

Your outstanding paint just proves how wrong the "US Olive Drab vehicles are boring and monocrome" statement is.
