Dear All,

I've been experimenting with AK's True Metal series. The paint is wax based, and it's really nice -up until I want to polish it. It does get a shine, but it also gets off the surface. I use primer underneath, and I've been trying to wait for 12 hours first, 24 hours later, but it always comes off in places.

Should I keep it on even longer? Should I use an absolute flat base? What are others' experiences?

Interesting video and product. I wonder how well it age or resist sunlight. Or, how it looks in real light.

That was the first place I looked. As I said: it rubs off (not completely, but thin sections) even with gentle rubbing...

When polishing, you're actually rubbing off whatever the material is. When you wax a car, you are rubbing off raised portions of the car wax.

I watched the video, so it looks pretty straightforward.

Perhaps you are using too coarse of a tissue to buff the paint with? Or you are just doing it for too long? As good as the stuff is, it will never look like real polished metal. There are some things paint will never do.

Good luck,

Gary

i'm using a cotton swab in a gentle motion. Perhaps I'd need to add a thicker layer?

Thank you for the answer
