I'm trying to confirm something. On US made trucks/cargo/dump beds, I'm pretty sure the fixed reflectors on the tail and facing to the sides were red. What color were the ones that faced forward: amber or red ?

Were there any amber colored reflectors mounted at all?

By US law no lights or reflectors facing forward can be red on a non-emergency vehicle.

I have shared with SMP Models several times that their CCKW lens set lacks the necessary two amber forward facing reflectors. The two item #7's on their lens fret should be amber rather than red.

So instead I purchased an alternate SMP set that contained multiple amber lenses. (I think it was the set for the Dana.)

Great. That settles it. Amber for front facing reflectors and red for rear and side facing reflectors, it is.

On long modern American trailers the foremost side facing reflectors are also amber. I don't know if it was also like that during WW2.

Pawel and Michael: I posted the same question over on ML. Randy Canova replied with this:

" I looked in my ORD 9 Parts manuals for the CCKW, Chevy 1 1/2ton and Diamond T 4ton. They all list both color reflectors, designating amber to face front and red for rear and rear side corners. "

To me, this settles it.

Thanks Roy. I do hope somewhere along the way SKP is monitoring this as right now a lot of CCKW's are being built incorrectly!
